Only superfast which I'm already on, nothing about Ultrafast. If the kit is up is it likely to become available fairly soon?

It's hard to say, the timelines vary a lot.

It'd be unusual for there to already be a CBT installed on the pole but no published plans to install FTTP.

We have had fibre up on the poles for a couple of months now and still only super fast showing on that checker. 24mb is painful.

Lightspeed (installer is Clearcomm) are doing the installs round here and their site says delivering in 'autumn'.

Maybe, where (roughly) are you? Not all fibre kit that turns up on poles is Openreach.

There was a separate guy there later in the day from openreach doing something. I had a chat with him and he said they'd be testing it in the next few days and then should be live in a couple of weeks. Fingers crossed.

Been a month now since having the 900 service from BT and I can 100% its night and day difference from Virgins service. Not one drop out and 100% speeds all day/night.

I did GTA today and it was 110Gb it took around 16 minutes!

Must be great to never have to worry about downloads or downloading through the night.


Sometimes I look at games on Steam and go, oh god, 3 hours or 1 hour to wait.

I was exactly the same, more so PS5 games as I tend to buy reduced games off the store, so used to let them download overnight. Not now, its probably quicker than installing off a disk!

Yeah mine is great. It’s the upload that’s the biggest thing for me, I can actually have a cloud based backup for all important data. I’d still prefer 200 or above upload, but 100 ish is working well for now.

Anyone have smokeping setup on their FTTP, I'd like to see how it compares to Vodafone's Gigafast network. I'm assuming they're both rock solid as each other honestly, lol

No but I have Think Broadband broadband quality monitor running against my Zen connection and the graph is perfect.

I've heard Vodafone’s network can be congested but I have no personal experience of it.

The upload is a big limitation for me right now with cloud Backups, with a 6mb upload I have to be very selective as to what I backup otherwise it'll not finish in the night and leave me with unusable Internet the next day.
