BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

The p2p is only throttled when usage is high, my upload is hardly ever capped.

Its now maxing out since I took that.

It will stream 1080p easy, for example you can instantly stream a BD-25 off megashares using VLC.

You can get that at 4pm - midnight?

Also interesting to know that the constant throttle is only triggered with high usage. Have you found the threshold?

I mean area usage, not my own usage.

Yeah I've been able max out torrents 24/7 for a while now, when I first signed up it was throttled often.

Might even stop using newsgroups soon and just use torrents for everything.

They are updating the checker today - its going to be a year since my cab should have been done, cue it going back another 3 months (exchange was enabled a long time ago).

Interesting...

My cabinet (CAB93 on Farnborough, Hampshire exchange) has been built for months. They have finally dug up around the cabinet and seem to be hooking it up. Fingers crossed.

The checker on the other hand has been saying 31st December for the last three months after being pushed from 30th September I think.

But looking today...

Nothing, No mention of FTTC. Says I can't get it!

Is this normal before they change it to the magical 'enabled' status?

It's coming then.:)

Same happen thing here, blank for a few days, & then 'available or enabled now' appeared.

Hopefully this is what's going to happen to mine (EMWILLO). Yesterday the checker was still reading 31st December 2011, likewise was another exchange near me (EMBREAD) but that one today is accepting orders, and mine is reading that I can't even get the service now.

Hopefully after 12 years of starting with dial up to the heights of 2.4/0.4 download / upload it is estimated I should get 35.4/10.

Fingers crossed.

Alan.

Strange. BT have seem to have lost all trace of FTTC in my area now on the checker, all the cabs seem to have been installed ages ago now.

Same with me. It was originally scheduled to be active June 30, then the date started going back 2 weeks a few days before every activation date. Then it recently went to Dec 31, and now it says no FTTC for you.

Still got 3 months on the Be contract anyway so no rush BT! Your delays make my decision making easier.

Attainable rate (kbit/s) 70120 22282
SNR margin (dB) 15.9 14.2
Line attenuation (dB) 0 0
Output power (dBmV) 12.2 6.7

Just had mine installed today, are those stats good?

The interleave setting might change over the next few days if your lucky.

What's the Sky VPN for? On demand? (if you don't mind me asking)

I will be streaming live tv, using mediaportal. I have quad tuner hooked up for freesat, and I will be streaming live tv over this over vpn to another house 50 miles away.

At the moment im doing some tests, have another phone line with SKY LLU on it. Managing to stream live tv, but its all very laggy in media portal, when im navigating the menus.

I am using a Asus RT-N16 with shibby firmware. On this firmware I have set up openvpn. It has set my vpn connection speed to 10Mbps, and when I transfer files accross im only getting 600KB/s.

Why am I getting such low speeds, I would expect at least 900KB/s over VPN. Is it that the router just is not powerful enough to keep up?
