BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Use the java speedtest to find out the IP profile. http://speedtester.bt.com/

Just done the test you surgested and it said: Your service was found to be performing poorly....

Download speed achieved during the test was - 10.65 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0 Kbps-0 Kbps .
Additional Information:
Assured Rate IP profile on your line is - 0 Kbps

What's this mean as when I use speedtest.net I get around 32mb...?

I'm in that boat of FTTC is coming the end of this year, But I don't want to go with BT as I know what the customer service is like. I am with ADSL24 at the moment and I keep knocking on the 30gb usage. For the sake of £5 I could get unlimited with BT but I just can't convince myself to do it... Are BT worth it? Or what should I do?

I've just had a pig of a time with Bt doing what should have been such a simple upgrade to infinity. I had to make 6 calls to keep trying to correct the mistakes they were making. I wish I had almost waited for Sky to roll out there Fibre optics as even though there customer service is just as bad as Bts I could have received Sky Go which seems worth it. But it looks like I'm in a 18 month contract now which Bt also didn't tell me over the phone when ordering...

Ha. I've been going at it since the 22nd of February. I now have 4 BT Home Hub 3s and the order still hasn't went through properly.

Hi, so my interleave changed for a few days, also gained an extra 4 meg sync.

Caught it on graph!

Well it looks like my cab is getting done - fibre cab went up today. 18 months later than originally planned!

Are BT going to charge more for 80/20, or will it be the same as 40/10 ?

Dear oh dear, going to have to get on the blower AGAIN to BT. Fine for 3 months then down the swannie. Why am I cursed to **** boradband? BT can shove the £40 a month they take from me a month up their jackise

Nobody knows at this point. My gut feeling is there will be a two tier tariff introduced but ultimately we'll find out in the next month or two.

ADSL24 chaps on TT say it may be rolled out in the next 3-4 weeks. Doubt my cab will be powered up by then anyway. Just need to keep options open - will have to wait and see when sky will be offering their packages too

How did you manage that?

BTW, anyone able to recommend a router that has strong wireless and can work as a VPN server? Must also have 4 minimum gigabit ports and preferably an ability to turn off any LEDs on it.
