BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Why turn off the HH???? ever since I got my BT Business line installed and running (3 years now) my Business Hub has never been turned off! Only time I have turned it off is when we have been away for 2 weeks on our hols so why are they telling you to turn it off every week for a few hours thats daft. Just proves they aint got ANY clue as to what they are doing.

Just email the CEO of BT instead mate, I will, my friend is, Hes really good at fixing issues the muppets from india can't do.

BT should really look at having the help lines back here in the UK, the only reason they are out there with the call centres is cost and as I said yesterday to the guy that called me from BT about the problem I am having its no good having people that are 6/8 thousand miles away trying to sort out a problem just god dam stupid. it should be UK based call centres for ALL UK customers.

After resting my hub and modem, I am able with great difficulty to get the server browser to load in BFBC2.

The only problem is, things still dont feel right.

It takes ages............ of searching for it to bring any results...

Or in some instances, it takes ages..... brings nothing (still searching) I cancle the search and then the server browser appears....

It has the hallmarks of routing issues..

Since the reset on the hub/modem, the server browser has been just about able to bring back servers....

Most of the time it still fails, but every 1/6 attempts a few log outs logins seems to get it to work eventually.

But something isnt right. It wsnt like this with BE and it wsnt like this for the first 2 weeks of my Infinity usage....

I found is video which is what im experiencing.

Just to add insult to injury, NZBmatrix files are taking an age to download and come in less then 1k/s

It's not the website as it's fine at my brothers house who is on sky.

Just checked BF:BC2 on pc right now and it's working just fine for me.

opethdisciple I really believe you have got faulty hardware. You should try connecting without the HH3 and the BT Infinity cable directly into your ethernet port of your PC from the openreach modem, would atleast eliminate the possibility of a faulty HH.

Posted in game forums also but:

Had same problem as opethedisciple since he mentioned it a few days back.

You can join servers FYI, like you can join from history or by IP.

You could use something like http://www.game-monitor.com/ to get server IP's while this shizzle is happening.

Cant be faulty hardware I've tried it at 4 different houses local to me which have Infinity (using my own computer).

This is how I normally connect, never used the homehub.

I just emailed the CEO of BT (long shot) regarding my pings, because in the first week of having infinity install my pings were on par with what I was getting with Be*. A week later they more or less trebled. I immediately knew interleaved was turned on but the tech support being the brainless people they are had no idea what I was talking about.

Anyways the CEO replied within 5 minutes to my surprise and told me he'd look into it and let me know.

Fingers crossed they turn it off for good.

Ok so its not just me having issues with the server browser in BFBC2.

Question is what the F! are we going to do about it?

You say you can connect to servers using ip?

That would be good at least, if a little bit inconvinient.

Im no networking guru, but having expreinced something similar with Be, it seems like a routing issue?

Anyway where do I manually type IP address in?

BFBC2 isnt on this list: http://www.game-monitor.com/

ive been told by tech support you cant have interleaving turned on or off, theres no option for it on infinity.

my ping to the bbc was 14-15 when i first got it, then they went to 30.

Asked for a profile reset, now there back at 14-15.

Ive got a well dodgy line from the green box though, 1060 metres of ally and i get 13-15mb.

Still better than the 2-3 on adls2.

Got a bt openreach joint expert coming out tomorrow to have a look at the line

From bt tech support:

In regards to interleaving, once your connection stays stable and remains that way, the DLM system will remove this itself, we are unable to remove the interleaving manually on infinity at the minute. If you do not switch your router off anymore or reset it, everything should get back to normal within a few days.

Had Infinity for four months now, still enjoying 37Mb down and 5.5Mb up and <35ms pings on official L4D2 servers.

I do wonder why my upload isn't higher as most people seem to be getting 7+, but... meh. :D
