BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

This is very frustrating.

I'v never had these issues before.

I work in IT so I know what im doing.

Its 100% BT fault. It stopped working out of the blue, after working perfectly, I chnged nothing.

It then started working out of the blue as well, again I changed nothing.

I hope its just temporary and is something that will dissapear on its own.

Otherwise, I will not stand for it and will incessantly nag BT untill they sort the problem.

It is totaly unacceptable that I can not play BFBC2 becuase of BT's traffic shapping.

are you getting the same problem as me?

After 6 you are unable to connect to EA games servers.

This BT thread I created here about the problem, has one guy forced to play Black ops becuase BFBC2 isnt working, poor guy!

At least it means its not all online gaming thats having issues, and hopefully as soon as BT realise the problem they will fix it.

Edit*

It makes sense that its traffic management thing, as I was playing fine on Sunday, logged out went for tea, came back and couldnt find any servers. Basically the traffic management kicked in and blocked everything!

Muppets!

May just be becuase its after 12am, but I was just able to log in and play a game of BFBC2.

Solution was typing in email and password manually and the server browser loaded.

Lets see if it still works tomorrow when the traffic shaping is in full force.

Fingers crossed!

Engineer coming to install between 1-6pm today. Let's hope I don't have to come back in here to complain. :p

I have to say, on my current connection, BT seem to limit my torrent speed to around 30kb/s until midnight when it opens up to the usual, yet still rubbish, 200kb/s I usually get. :p

Hopefully it'll be different on Infinity.

I just moved into a brand new house well infact its a really big new estate, i was hoping bt infinity would be in one of the cabs near us soon but it doesn't look like its ever going to happen. Infinity is live in our exchange and the ADSL speed for this postcode is only a max of 2mb! I cant believe that a whole new estate will be on a mer 2mb adsl connection, i dont know the time scale how BT go about upgrading these cabs but i really hope the government bring in some kind of policy that fttc has to be in place by at least 2015, i thought or i should say i hope they look to these more rural areas sometime soon

If it's a brand new house, you might want to see if you can get Virgin Cable, which is an end-to-end fibre system unlike Infinity. If your exchange is Infinity-enabled though, I can't see why it'd be long before your cabinet gets FTTC.

No it's not "end to end fibre system", that's complete tosh.

It uses COAX to your house, BT uses a copper pair, Both have fibre running to the green cabs respectively.

That will only happen if the government puts up the cash, which they wont as they dont have any.

Hi mate, unfortunatly Virgin are not in our area i would be straight there if they were. Just done another infinity check with my phone number and it states "BT Infinity is not currently due to be rolled out in your area within the next 6 months. Register your interest and we will keep you up to date about the BT Infinity rollout"

Looks like im gonna be stuck on a mer 2mb connection for a while, might be tempted to go round the new estate and get everyone to sign a petition to get fibre in the area lol not that the local council would do anything like you say due to the cost of it

Yes, speaking to the neighbors and asking them to register their interest on BT's site might be a good idea. They had "The race for Infinity" on before, it was basically a competition for which areas would get FTTC first. I was one of the lucky ones it seems, I know a whole lot of people I know weren't. :(

Not long had mine installed and have just noticed ive go BTFON enabled in the settings....Is it possible to turn off BTFON on the newer home hub 3's?

Install done and getting 20mb download compared to the 27mb that was estimated, but I'm happy enough with it to be patient and see if it creeps up over the next few days.
