BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

I would check the wireless channels in use first. If you have an android phone download 'wifi analyzer' from the Play Store and check for an unused or lightly used channel.

I believe the phone points will still work in exactly the same way.
im not Sure about the cable, it might be Ethernet.
I would assume so, but I would leave the HH5 in plce for a few weeks just in case DLM doesn't like your APE.

Thanks for the answers. Will see how it pans out in 10 days time.

I've had Infinity close to a year, had a bit of an issue with them getting the installation date right but other than that it's ran fine the whole time :)

On Friday, I happened to have the day off work. I was casually playing a game of Fifa online and my connection dropped. I've only had one outage since the install of fttc last September so thought it was a little strange. Looked out of the living room window as the cabinet is in line of sight and watched 2 kelly communication engineers open it up and take about 15 minutes to swap the line cards out for new ones. Taking lots of photos as they went about it. Connection came straight back up after that. Anyone know why they would be swapping them?

So ordered Infinity 1 3 days ago. Yesterday I get an SMS call on voicemail saying there has been an unexpected and technical issue with my order and it will be delayed...

Like wth, what could that be? Will I even get it?

Jesus Christ, finally!

Are those numbers any good? Paying for 80 down, 20 up.

If anyone is wondering (probably no one :p) the ECI modem power supply works with the HG612. Both are 12V, 1A supplies and have the same header, except the HG12 plugs in at a right angle and the ECI plugs in straight.

I switched my ECI modem last night and couldn't be arsed to unbundle the psu from the network rack :p

Guys can you get the following with VDSL like I could with ADSL? I used to have the following with TalkTalk, wondering if any of these will work with fiber.

6db interleaving (fastest profile)
DLM Off

In a word - No.

ISP's have no control over the DLM system, that is controlled by BT openreach and they will not switch it off.

Interleaving and signal to noise margin (the 6DB you quote there) falls under the DLM system, DLM will apply interleaving and other line stability enhancements if your line requires them :)

Update today

Very good and informative response after I contacted Bill Murphy - this response came from Liz Mallinson who I believe is Business Development Director, Next Generation Access Scotland, BT Group

Well - i'll give credit where it's due. Liz has emailed me weekly updates, as promised. Every monday morning she emailed me an update on what is happening and kept me in the loop

todays

Chris happy to report the cabinet has moved through testing and commissioning. I will let you know as soon as it is open to take orders.
