BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Is anyone on Infinity option 3 (they call it 'Faster Total Broadband' or 'Total Broadband with Fibre'), if so what speeds do you get?

They're enabling infinity in my office area within the next month but it only gets option 3 (est: 12.4mbit) which isn't much better than the stable 8mbit I get now. I've seen some people report estimates of < 15mbit and actually get > 30mbit though so I'm trying to decide how likely that is, and if it's worth trying.

A colleague of mine is. He was given an estimate of around 10 meg but is actually getting 33 meg.

Cheers

BT est. speed upon signing up was 32mb down and 7mb up.

you are connection at 40Mbit down and 10Mbit up sync

your IP profile is 38717 which is the max.

The slow speeds is BT inability to cope with the speeds in your are like mine.

I struggle to get 10mbit after 6.

Cheers mate, in my case I can live with that due to such an improvement over what I had :) Least I know nothing else is wrong. Can always hope they improve the other.

Speedtesting off and on and still giving 20+ :)

Been on Option 3 with Fibre since the day it came out. Said I'd only get 12Mb (better than the 6 I was getting with ADSL+)

Synchs at 24Mb down and 2Mb up, real life speeds are close to 21Mb down and 1.5Mb up. I'm 1Km from the box.

Will hopefully be swapping over to infinity shortly, BT site is showing it will be available from the end of the month. Slightly odd set up at home at the moment with -

Two landlines, one BT, one talk talk (parents, ugh). TalkTalk have "provided" Internet that isn't used on the talktalk line, despite us repeatedly stating we dont want or need it. Second landline is just used for internet, which was through Pipex, who have now been taken over by TalkTalk.

Plan is to cancel the second landline, cancel with TalkTalk on main landline, go back to BT and get BT Infinity internet. Currently the router is in my room, and there are 4 wired connections, and several other wireless connections. I have both an extension from the main landline and also the second landline into my room.

What we(I) will want is to have the BT router installed to my room, and am wondering if they will have an issue with this? If need be we could have the router downstairs, but the house is literally lead lined, so would need some way of being able to connect via cables to equipment upstairs, and also a wireless extender..

Also, is the home hub as bad as every other free router I have ever been given with a net package? If so, any recommendations for replacements?

Well our exchange has gone LIVE for FTTC just need OR to sort our street Cab out and WERE ON YEA BABY. BT Wholesale page say's BEFORE 31st December COME ON Openreach GET IT SORTED PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

We've had ait a few months, got great speeds in general and no real connectivity problems, but my torrents do run very slowly :(

When you say slow what sort of speed d/loading ?

Oh and anyone that had the extension cable used when getting the installation could you let me know what colour is the cable, I've a guy busting my head to find out as I forgot to ask the BT engineer, cheers.

:) Happy day today. Noticed as i was cycling in to work, that there was some more 'dig up the road' scheme going on just around the corner from where i live. Had a slow down and wee look as i went past and what did i spy?????? A shiny new, small, green FTTC cabinet. Reckon distance form my flat to the cab is about 700 metres. but will check properly tomorrow with my good old GPS thingymwidget.

Bring on december.......
