BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

I would stay as far away from BT as you possibly can, rather go for a service with another company even though it might not be as much cap or bandwidth as BT.

If you go with BT they will mess you around and then they will try and rip you off. If BT was not a fascist organisation they would have gone out of business.

They have just added on £9 payment processing charge, they want to charge me £9 extra for processing a payment.

So to summarize, if you order it, you will most likely be without internet for a certain amount of time while they **** you around. Then once it is installed you will have at least one service disruption a month and you will experience bad latency at random times. You will then receive bills that do not correspond to the agreement. Calling them up will trick you in to thinking that they actually heard your problems and will fix it, only for you to call them up again and have to start over. After spending an hour on the phone with BT you feel like when they hang up they start laughing and throw your details in the bin.

Stay away from BT unless you like wasting your time and getting ripped off.

I wish i had not signed up to BT. I should have known. I will never make that mistake again.

I could say the same for Sky, Virgin Media, Tiscali and AOL (way back), is there a pattern or am I unlucky? :)

My ping has near halved with Infinity, was getting 45-60 on most game servers, now 25-30 and very stable. Worth the price on it's own imo

BT Infinity uses the latest in fibre optic broadband technology to deliver the internet at groundbreaking speeds. We are now starting to enable homes in the UK to receive speeds of up to 100Mb by having the fibre cable installed straight into your home. This means you will also benefit from increased upload speeds of up to 15Mb.

You must be sitting on the exchange.

I tried to call BT to sort out my bill and they can't even put me through to the right department. I have start over again. I just hang up on them because i need to actually set a side about 2 hours of my day to deal with a bill issue with this criminal organisation.

I did mine via live chat, instant and painless without all the having to repeat yourself rubbish :)

live chat, hahaha, good one. I thought the live chat was a bot? last time i went there it was just scripted responses, was a waste of time.

I have been very patient with BT and polite and relaxed from the start, but i am starting lose it a bit now.

Live chat or live bot either way they / it sorted my double charging on the delivery of the modem without any hassle. Don't get me wrong I'm not defending BT as I'd be first to agree they shouldn't have double charged in the first place :) Now as for losing it, I think you lost it a looong time ago.

Been waiting for my area to go live with FTTP since the beginning of Sept and the price is now £45 instead of the £38 I was banking on. The road behind me has just gone live, wonder if I can swing it past the wife.

Just been looking and it seems they will be offering both types of Infinity here, FTTP and FTTC with the former costing £7 a month extra.

FTTC at £25.60 (£28 including anytime calls)
FTTP at £35.00

I have yet to see the necessity of higher speeds beyond the 40Mb/s I have beyond having faster usenet downloads. UK broadband in urban areas finally about to be up to scratch (for the time being).

I also like BT's £120 line rental saver scheme. Since switching to them from o2 (a year and a bit ago) I have been very impressed.

looks like BT Infinity (inc anytime calls) is going up from £28 a month to £29.40 a month and line rentel is going up by 70 pence. Pretty steep hike tbh.

No line rental increase here as I paid for the year in advance and as for Infinity am pretty sure the package I'm on isnt changing, least thats what the last email I received said. To the inbox I go .. :)

Update:

Stand corrected, package price is indeed going up by £1.40 per month (from Dec) with no increase again until 2013 (yeah Im sure)..
