No idea the ordering team didn't on the phone either they just were surprised it was that price as 76mb is 30 quid also so they said it was strange and a lot of staff jumped on that price.

I've been checking over 6 months since my area was done for fttp and it's never Been that price for me with or without the MasterCard deal.

Engineer is booked to out today between 8 and 6 so I've taken the day off work. Low and behold this morning's speed test shows 2.5Mb... So it's fixed with no changes on my end?!

How can BTs off site tests show a speed of 200Kb and they acknowledge the problem is on their end that requires and engineer visit and now it's all fine?!

Now do I cancel the engineer (If I even can now...) or let him visit and double check there are no issues. Clearly there isn't a problem now so I can see us getting charged the £130 for the visit despite the reason he's coming out being for what was a problem on BTs side. No doubt they will deny anything has changed too. This is ridiculous.
 
Having just switched over to Sky from BT, 76mb down to 38mb, I was a bit surprised to hear Ryan Reynolds advertising BT speeds of "up to 52mbps". Checking their website shows the same. What happened to the 76 speed?
 
It isn't anything complicated.

They used to offer up to 38Mb and up to 76Mb.

They now offer up to 52Mb and up to 76Mb.

Sky would be free to offer the same options if they wanted to.

Edit: Sky obviously already offer 76Mb if you want it. They could bump their base package if they want to.

How can you offer "up to" both 52 and 76? It's a contradiction.
I took another look at their website and I can see 76 offered once you click into their packages. I don't get why they're advertising 52 as the max.

15 days. It was the most stress-free utility set up I've had to date. And it's free for a year, and can cancel after that time (only paying line rental). It was daft to keep giving BT £50 a month for something I was only getting max usage from when my TV shows were available / new game download on steam.

No more of a contradiction than offering the option of up to 38Mb or up to 76Mb was/is.

All the providers have standard and premium products. The speed change and the adverts only applies to their standard level product.

The adverts specifically use the phrase 'as standard' and have the following small print displayed:

'Fastest speeds vs standard entry-level fibre products of major broadband providers. Sky comparison: Sky Fibre up-to 38Mbps vs BT Infinity 1 upto 52Mbps.'
 
I got something in the post this morning about Infinity 1 (52 meg) been £10 a month with line rental of £17.00 on a 12 month contract. + HH5..... Problem is they want £49.00 setup fee along. I think you could get cash back too if it's a new contract.

I would have moved to it if the setup fee wasn't as steep.

Wholesale line rental from Openreach has stayed relatively stable over the past few years at around £11+VAT. Providers have been using the increases to cover free broadband and calls packages for years.
