BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Openreach checker says FTTP 1600Meg down and 115Meg up. BTw checker says FTTP 1000Meg down and 220Meg up. Zen Internet checker says FTTP 910Meg down and 109Meg up. EE checker says FTTP 1600Meg and 115Meg up.

Who are correct?
I have had Zen 1.6Gbps Openreach package since February despite it not being advertised on their site. Needed Openreach to swap out the ONT to cope with the higher speed. Can't remember how I found the package.

Edit: might have been uswitch

Just checked and trust 1.6Gbps option is also there for me.

EE & Zen say 1.6Gig not available. Only 900/110 because of OH FTTP (overhead pole - Single Dwelling Unit Residential OH Feed alternate L2C solution required)

Our records show the following FTTP network service information for these premises:-Single Dwelling Unit Residential OH Feed alternate L2C solution required.
FTTP is available and a new ONT may be ordered.

I'm checking daily now after seeing open reach swarming my street. They have been everywhere around us the past week and 4 vans per street. I'm impressed.
They are pretty very quick job from start to finish for FTTP. Very impressive.

Stage 1: 9 x Poles go up Dec 15th & 16th
Stage 2: 9 x Poles overhead fibre cable Dec 16th & 17th
Stage 3: Pull fibre cable from 1 x pole to underground pathway chamber fibre aggregation nodes & 3 x poles fibre splitter using Optical Fibre Cleaver Dec 18th & 19th
Stage 4: Final check & commissioning Dec 19th
Stage 5: Checker updated on BTW Checker (Saturday December 20th after 5pm) to say FTTP now ready to order (Openreach Checker will follow soon to updated)
Stage 6: Checker updated on Openreach Checker (Monday December 22nd after 12am) to say FTTP Available to order now with FTTP up to 1600Mbps down and up to 115Mbps up

Took them just 6 days from December 15th to 20th

Been confirmed by Aquiss my service for FTTP LIVE installation date on Monday 5th January 2026.
;D
Thanks Martin (Aquiss ISP) :D

This morning I went to town centre getting shopping foods and brought TP Link Archer BE230 Fibre Router £69.99 then went back in the car, driving home as my phone was keep ringing but I can't answer it. Until I get home, Openreach has called me and texted me saying Hi I'm openreach engineer and I need access to your back garden to provide the external cable will you be in today? As I must have missed it, never expecting any FTTP install today, so I reply Yes. Then it reply back say I've now moved on to my next task your CP will be in touch to arrange a suitable time to revisit.

I look up my CCTV as the engineer been turn up and the Openreach van still there for approx 20 minutes then it went off before I get home. Damn it! Look like I would have FTTP today instead of January 5th 2026 (as this date is set by my ISP commited date 05/01/26 AM slot 8am to 1pm)

Unlucky today as I do hate last minute phone call or text unexpectedly today from Openreach engineer.
:o

The external work is different to the internal work, so you wouldn’t have had FTTP today. They run the fibre to the box on the outside wall. Once that’s done, it’s a different appointment to do the inside part.

Mine was all done at the same time.

Well fttp suddenly went live here....no notification email just me checking after seeing a lot of openreach people around before Christmas.... sadly locked in with virgin until November...but on a pretty good deal and works fine...

Got an email from Open Reach that they'll be starting the FTTP works on our road in March of this year - so hopefully means it's available for us from around April/May.

Only negative is that our existing broadband deals expire in January so we'll need to renew temporarily and then see what we can do from there for upgrading. We also have two lines currently and the plan was once we have access to FTTP we'd move back to just having a single line - so it might just be a case of swallowing the excessive 'out of contract' monthly costs for a few months. My only worry is that if Open Reach say March, do they actually mean October...
