BT upgrade option for existing customers

You mean the "adaptor Ethernet to phone plug in for the router"?
It's an ATA. Linksys do one (PAP2 IIRC), Cisco do one, and loads of other firms do them too.

Thanks, I wasn't really sure what I was looking for.

I gather the concensus is that the BT Homehub is not that reliable. ie, the wireless connection keep dropping. Is this still the case? Have the recent ones overcome this?

I'm tempted by the free calls, but if the wireless connection is not stable, to me that just cancels out the advantage of the free calls.

just got up i have a problem :\

i am due to get activated on the 5th of december . i have just got up and Whoa!, i can not use the phone its like a fax machine noise :(

I have tried new filters,

problem solved, i just had to switch the phone of ( cordless ) and now it works a treat,

just got my bt number trough 056 it begins with

i'm getting it changed tho :D

The 056 number is for your BT Broardband Talk, thats if you took that option up,your BT home number will stay the same.

Not sure why you want to change the Broardband Talk number as iirc you didn't take that option up  .

I'm on BT option 3, although i recieved this e-mail a while back. Aparently I'm one of the people who use excessive ammounts of bandwith. So they're giving me unlimited downloads untill March 2007. Below you can see their e-mail

Invitation

Dear Customer,

We hope you're enjoying your broadband service, and all the great features that BT Total Broadband has to offer.
Enhanced service trial

You have been identified as using more than the usage allowance of 40 GB for BT Total Broadband OPTION3. Normally under our Fair Usage Policy you would be charged £1 per GB for usage above that allowance.

However, we're writing to you today because we would like to invite you to a trial of an enhanced BT Total BroadbandOPTION3 Broadband service. The trial service will give you all the advantages that you currently benefit from, but with an Unlimited usage allowance per month.

You are still subject to our standard terms and conditions, but we will not charge you for excessive usage, or terminate your service for the duration of this trial.

Only a limited number of customers have been invited to participate in this trial - your participation means we may contact you to get feedback. If you do not wish to be part of this trial, please contact us on 0800 169 0693 by the 15th November. Lines are open 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday. If you do not contact us by this date we will assume you are happy to be a triallist.

The trial will start on 1st November 2006 and last until 30th March 2007 after which you will revert to the standard Fair Usage Policy associated with your chosen broadband option, which, depending on your feedback, may include elements of this trialled service.

If you have any queries about this email, please call 0800 169 0693, between 8am and 5pm, Mondays to Fridays.

Thank you for choosing BT Total Broadband.

Best wishes,

BT Total Broadband team

david334, from your posts I take it you are sticking with your original set-up (rather than utilising the Homehub)?

If that is the case, are you on the free eve & weekend calls via BB and how did you set it up?

On the subject of the Home Hub, it's the ugliest thing i've ever seen. My connection constantly dropped, back in the box it went and i'm sticking with my DG834PN :)

i find it rather odd how people going over their limits are being offered unlimited for cheaper. seems rather suspect to me...... :p

here's my mail from a few days ago.....

Sorry man, i did not get round to installing

i installed the stupid software then the homehub was saying no connection

No probs Dave, the more I read about the problems people are having with this Homehub, the more I'm going off the idea.

I upgraded to option 3 from option 4 but when i go into my account info on the bt browser it says i now have a 40GB limit! What are BT playing at?
