BT upgrade option for existing customers

Now ive got a letter through the post asking if i want to upgrade to unlimited option 3 usage even though ive already changed over to unlimited option 3. The usage allowance in the status window hasnt changed though.....

Hi All

I just got the same letter from BT the other day. I've been sticking with Option 4 because of the unlimited usage Option 3 offer. I cant believe that BT wont start to strangle or shape network connection if I start to download a little too much for there liking :(
Has anyone noticed any changes to there connections since you changed to Option 3 yet???

Any updates guys? I tried restarting my router today, but still getting the same 2272000 down. So either no change, or I'm not getting a speed increase from my old 2mb package.

Also should I keep restarting my router? or is it best to leave everything on and 'always connected' like I usually do...

i am with BT. my connection speed has drop over the last few weeks from around 1500kbps to 350kbps. spend yesterday afternoon on the phone to them trying to find out why, line tests were ok but the person on the end of the phone said "ahh i see the FUD has been applied to you that would explain the slow down"

i then spend the rest of the afternoon trying to find out what the FUD is, all i can find is a statement saying that there is a FUD, but not what it is( i looking numbers of what u can DL and at what times). no one who i rang was able to tell me what they were. in total i got 8 different numbers to ring, 1 of which wasn't even a correct number and one of which rang for 3 mins before i give up.

i have never received a email, phone call, snailmail from them to say that iam reaching there FUD and that i need to cut back (i DL loads of games and legal music, iam addicted to youtube and i play lots of online games).

have send them a number of emails to try to sort out my problems (i resent that iam paying for a up to 8 meg connection, and they give me services which is very little better than my old isdn line.

so be carefull when u swapping options as with a fud you are at BT merricy and if in 6 months time when you all move they decide to lower your speeds casue you using the Internet too much (say making a load of voip calls) there be sod all u can do as they change the fud to suit them as they need

You mean a FUP (Fair Usage Policy), rather than Fear Uncertainty and Doubt? :p

Looking at the BT Broadband site, Option 3 has a 40GB cap (here).

But us on option 4 got an email saying we could go to option 3 and have no usage cap.

The point I was (ham-fistedly) driving at was that if everyone else is on a 40GB limit, it wouldn't seem too off to expect you folks to (even if it isn't rigid) be within it. But you never know with BT

Update: Checked my account on line today and noticed it had changed to Option 3, with a 40GB limit!! Got on to BT and a very helpful lady said that she has had lots of calls from old Option 4 customers with the same concern. She reassured me the service was unlimited, that it had been put in my notes by her and that the conversation had been recorded. If in the event of a FUP warning letter going out by accident I am to ignore it. She also stated that she would look into having the account details of all the old Option 4 customers that switched to 3 updated on line to reflect an "Unlimited" service :D :D Fill yer boots!

Bony Maloney, glad to hear that you have had success over this 40gig showing on the account, been trying to get a answer from BT regrading this for ages, have you got the number that you used to speak to this very helpful lady as i might give it a call to see how it goes.

Hey flasher :) The 40GB limit on "My account" details hasn't been changed yet, but again I have been more than reassured that I am "unlimited". I rang this number:08456007030129. I had to be put through to other assistants as this was the general signing up for Option 3 line. You'll have to emphasize that you are an existing Option 4 customer.

I've just upgraded to option 3 at the end of december and asked about the 40gb limit. They told me not to worry about it as it will soon be unlimited usage

Did anyone tick the box for the free wireless modem? And has anyone actually received theirs yet?
I filled my form in like a month ago, and still nothing?
