BTCC 2013 Season

Goff played a blinder in the last race but he could have done us all a favour and took Sheddon out. Can't stand him and his whining like a little boy when he doesn't get his way.

Accusing the MG team of blatant cheating in race 2, firstly accusing Tordoff of spinning him out, when footage clearly showed it wasn't the case and accusing Plato of a jump start.

He said Plato rolled forward, I saw that. And he said 'if' Tordoff hit him.

Tordoff was clearly not the one to hit him and he knew that, the impact came from the rear as Tordoff was along side.

The roll was literally as the lights went out.

Had it been a jump-start then there would have been in steward inquiry and a penalty. There was neither.

It was just Tiny-tears crying yet again because he wasn't getting his own way and using it to dig at Plato/MG as always.

It is an odd comparison, even the WTCC are much quicker but BTCC is just right imo.

Eh? WTCC is based on Super 2000, same as the pre-2012 BTCC with engine power around 300bhp. NGTC cars are more powerful than S2000, with a further boost for next season.

Probably not a huge amount in it, but WTCC isn't "much quicker" IMO.

Anyway, well done to Andrew Jordan, and a cracking Race 3 from Goff in the unfancied Vx :)

Jump starts hardly ever get investigated and heaven forbid a driver express their opinion or thoughts on something.

seriously gutted at having to leave at the end of race 1, but that rain was just horrendous, with the way my imune system is i would have got ill again! within 10 mins of being there i was drenched from head to toe and i even brought an umbrella!
leaving at 4:45am to have leave that early is truly gutting

but still! glad andy won the championship its thoroughly deserved! and race 1 was very good! i wanted Onslow-cole to win a race after the season he has had and he looked as if he could do it today! but still, ROLL ON 2014!

Sounds exactly like me. Soaking wet, freezing cold, bought an umbrella in an attempt to hold off leaving, but bailed after race 1.

Hopefully the opening round next year will be warmer and we'll try again.

WTCC and NGTC BTCC haven't raced on the same track to compare. On a side note, why has WTCC not been to the UK since 2011? Considering the British teams and drivers it seems odd?

Rumour has it that Mr Gow doesn't want it drawing crowds away from BTCC.

We stayed for the first two races and went home after that to watch race 3 from the sofa. We were all like drowned rats despite being all layered up and having umbrellas.

Congratulations to Andy Jordan, I really felt for him when he was in tears on the wind down lap.

Also, I have to momentarily blow sunshine up my boyfriends bum. Given the state of Smith's focus after the shunt in FP2 there were major doubts that he would race at all this weekend, however Mr Minxy and the boys worked until late into the night before getting less than 5 hours kip overnight and returning to finish the job early this morning. Fortunately Aron returned the favour with a great days racing.

TTFN BTCC, as much as I love the racing I am glad being a racing widow is over for another year. :D

Give Mr Minxy a pat on the back. That car was trashed, all the crews do amazing jobs getting them back on track at the speed they do. Well done to him.

Does Gow have enough sway over British motorsports to keep WTCC away? Or is it more a case of he would have been annoying enough for them to just not want to have to deal with the hassle? I can see his point, they are very closely aligned championships. Although the WTCC has stopped coming to the UK since BTCC severed its ties with teams and shared tech, so maybe WTCC took an active decision to not invest in a country who shunned their spec?

Just seems a bit odd given the number of successful British drivers and teams.

Thanks Skeeter, many are unsung heros and how they do what they do in such a short space of time is impressive. It's always lovely when the drivers appreciate the teams, not all do but Aron makes sure his team know he is grateful.

I have no idea how much influence Mr Gow has if I'm honest and it is a big shame for the British teams not to be able to race on their home turf. Perhaps it doesn't have a big enough profile in the UK to make it a good slot? They'd have a good selection of tracks to choose from. You may well be right with your theory of feeling shunned.

I'd have loved to have seen it back in the UK if only from a selfish point of view of wanting to go along to support (Mr Minxy did WTCC last season and we felt like we hardly saw each other) I would imagine many other families feel the same way.

Most other drivers either treat it as a race incident or protest in private, except when it's plato vs neal or vice versa but that's been done since time immemorial. All other times it's tiny-tears moaning because he's not won, throwing a strop like a 2 yr old.

Yeah there are a lot of old BTCC names in WTCC. I'd like to follow it a bit more next season ideally.

The Eurosport coverage is brilliant, but the series has lost it's way a bit and has some random rules. The restrictions on fixing cars between races makes no sense to me.

It's because the FIA likes to push the WTCC on 'new' countries, countries that don't necessarily care.

True. Its odd when you watch a race on a massive impressive new track somewhere, yet there's nobody watching.

Some photos from race 1 today, really didn't like have the camera out in the rain, but still got some good shots:

Seems like you are throwing your very own strop
