*** BTCC Begins, Sunday 5th April 09. ***

I'll give you the Lacetti then, but small though, but yea, thats 3.

So we need to set fire to the 1 Series, the stupid Seat thing, definately those Civics.

And whats an Astra Coupe and an MG ZS doing there, is it a geriatrics race or something? They've been out of production for years. Is somebody going to turn up in a Mk2 Mondeo and a Volvo 850 as well?

It's a shame when a racing series needs things like reverse grids and a draw of balls to see who starts on pole in order to spice things up.

I blame ITV in a way, I bet it was their stupid idea. A couple of season back didn't they spin a wheel to see who would be on pole? I mean come on, no wonder no one takes the series seriously anymore.

Yep exactly, something as stupid as spinning a wheel to decide. Not professional in any way.

That was the best bit imo - the wheel of mis fortune! With the commentator going now "not to hard" and the spinner thing going round and round for ages!

The balls aren't to bad but it does seem a bit cheap. I was at Oulton last year and the grid girl was mixing the balls and one just flew up and out the pot on TV and she had to go grab it. Made me chuckle anyway!

No in all seriousness I am not a fan of the reverse grids as it just leads to more accidents if you get someone much slower at the front. Sometimes if it is a small team they won't want to be the target car on the front row. That said they cannot just have 3 lots of qualifying, or the grid as the race finished last time as it can be a procession.

How many times, most cars are hatchbacks these days, and the smaller cars make more sense to race because of weight etc. Who cares about the shape as long as the racing is good, I just don't get it.

Well I guess that's another reason people prefer the old saloons, the racing was much better then.

I appreciate what your saying. The field doesn't have the depth as it did in the 90's. The Top 10 drivers are still the same pushing at 120% all the time but some cars are not quite there. What can you do though short of having manufacturers or big teams paying for professional drivers, there just isn't the money in the sport any more.

I don't see the difference between a 90's big lumbering Accord and the current big fat supersized Civic. They all lumber about the same! Ok the cars are not as fast as they used to be, but then neither is F1.

I suppose its lost some of the original bump & nudge racing that touring cars had years ago. Everyone plays it safe now.

Very rare you see cars three a breast round a corner, mind you Matt Neal & Jason Plato are usually entertaining to watch :-)

JP is a dirty bugger.

iwas supposed to be going up to see this. was all booked and ready to go up tonight.

now im at work bored. and not going to see any at all appart from the tv coverage :(

Im still debating whether to go to Thruxton or not as its only an hour away. I have not been for the past two years.

Might see how much the prices have gone up in that time.
