Having a poll is pointless, it's easy to say you would/will donate to something when you don't actually have to.

I'm opposed the very concept of the Royal Family so I most certainly wouldn't. I'm not obsequious enough to consider myself a subject.

We've lost enough heritage down the years for various reasons and i wouldn't want future generations to miss out.

That said, i'd like to so the palace open to the public more often if it's funded by public donation and/or through the tax system.

Sure they will visit if visiting london, but they wont stop coming if buckingham palace was destroyed in a fire or something.

Why should she pay? She doesn't own the property. That would be similar to you paying for the refurbishment of a rental property; you wouldn't do that would you?
 
Keeping aside whether you like the royals or not, the amount of revenue that Buckingham Palace and the Royal family bring to this country is unreal.

I work in the aviation industry and the amount of air traffic tourism to the UK, especially London that is generated from these landmarks keeps the industry going.
 
No, Things like the Prince Charles Duchy with all there tax dodging and shady business practices to pay for it instead. If the royal family make so much money they can pay for them self's instead of asking for 6% MORE to spend.

Irrelevant what they spend, people calling certain people parasites yet are unwilling to look at themselves. Perhaps people should look at their own financial contribution before slating others or calling others to pay more. I don't hate on people because they are poor, nor hate on people because they are rich, its just moronic.

Also the palace doesn't belong to the Queen :rolleyes:
 
Would people want to see all these palaces and bits of heritage and history crumble and disappear? Don't you think it is important to invest into our history and culture?

I don't resent paying for Buckingham palace and I hold strongly republican views on the royal family.

Sorry to all you who work 40 hour work weeks but still can barely afford to live. (Because of zero hour contracts which the queen who has never lifted a finger in her life endorses hurrah)....

You realise the men who take your bins away, the men who clean your streets and clean your sewer pipes are probably not net contributors.

If they are such parasites maybe they should all stop for a day, i'm sure you'll get off your high horse and do all the work....

It looks like you are not very bright so I will spell it out for you. I don't care if you are poor or you are rich, it makes no difference to me what so ever, what I don't like is BS hypocrisy.

I don't care that my taxes goes to help those less fortunate than myself, thats what should happen in a civilized society. Just because I argue a point, it doesn't automatically mean I stand on the other side.

If a wealthy person was to insult you as to your contribution, you should be rightly annoyed, so why is it acceptable if it comes from the other side?

Yup, that's why it's ok for someone worth billions to say zero hour contracts are a great idea. Cause i'm sure they'll be the ones suffering as a result of them.

I know it's a hard concept for you to grasp but I agree with you in part. The abuse of zero hour contracts for people working full time is a disgrace, but for those that are happy working part-time like students its flexible work that suits them

Lets be real, they didn't concoct zero hour contracts to help the poor students.

Students have been fine for a very very long time. I'm just trying to explain maybe why some "hypocrites" in this thread might be annoyed at stories like this when they're out busting their asses for little pay, and I agree with them.
