budget build

Will you consider running the cable bunch behind your mobo?
I have done this now. ive changed back to my modular PSU and have tidied up the cables. Ill get pictures tomorrow.

Ive also installed a Samsung 128Gb SSD SM841 as my system drive that I got dirt cheap

Ive just bought an fx8350 from nkata (Andy) so this should be with me mid week and ill hopefully have it in over the weekend. hoping to see a wee improvement over the 6350. Ive already got a buyer lined up for the 6350 so it will be costing me about £30 so all is good.
next up ill be looking at a liquid cooler for the cpu so looking for recommendations.

Ive also fitted an LG Blu ray rewriter that cost me £18 delivered.

so my fx 8350 arrived yesterday from nkata and I got time today to get it in.
so far ive not pushed it ive got it running sweet at 4.3 and my temps are aroound the same as they were with the 6350 running 4.4
next up on the upgrade list is a better cpu cooler as if I run prime my temps do get to high 60's but during gaming im seeing around 55c

so after my dads car boot sale bargain my CPU temps are nice and low. I done an intel burn test running at 4.4 and maxed out at 50c :D

will do a prime burn tomorrow and will remember to get a screen shot but im impressed with the H80i so far but boy can it get noisy!!

on quiet setting I would say my pc is near silent and still stays nice and cool but when I knock it of silent it certainly can be heard..

Always a bit hit and miss with car boot sales and computer equipment, but I'm glad yours is working well. You still need to do a bit of cable tidying by the looks of it :)

Ive not been around much as my dad has been in and out of hospital with prostate cancer :(

so ive been neglecting my pc build at the moment..

I did get a new monitor and keyboard for my xmas so ive been happy with them.

monitor is an LG W2486L 24" and keyboard is the corsair K40 so im chuffed with them..

Its just a pity im really starting to hate my case... Ive been looking at either the corsair 300r or the 230t I just cant make up my mind.

yes I find the standard fans loud I have been thinking on changing them with the sp120 fans. do you have yours running as an intake or exhaust?

thanks about my dad. hes getting there slowly but it was a shock as he recently retired and was hoping to be taking things easy

heres a fresh picture took about 10 minutes ago.

As you can see ive got the H80i mounted at the front under my dvd drive.

I had to move the fan controller down a slot and move the dvd drive to the top slot to give space. Im still playing on the idea of taking the hard drive caddy out to aid better cooling or just bite the bullet and get a new case... well see what happens.

as far as my temps go heres my temps on normal usage
ive not ran any tests with it set up this way at present

I had closed hardware monitor so some of the min values are higher than normal.
during normal use ive got the H80i set on quiet where as if im playing a game ill knock it up to either balanced or performance depending on if the misses is watching the tv

Apologies I thought you had the H60, looks simular. I use mine as intake then it pushes the air to the top and out through top fans. SP120's are extremely quiet and get the job done too so you can run them quite low and keep your temps low too. I would recommend to anyone.

yea my fans are set up as follows. ive been wondering if I should change my top fan to an exhaust

I gave the case a clean out when I had the side off it and moved my H/D to the top slot which has lowered its temps by 2c..
Ive also gave my 7950's heat sink its routine blow out which helps keep its temps down.

I'm no air cooling expert (I'm the type that turns all the fans down 'cos they're too noisy :D ) but logically since hot air rises, the top vent would do best as exhaust - then you'll benefit from the effect rather than fitting it. Like most things in the PC cooling world you're probably looking at a difference of 1 degree or less though. Try it and check temps....only way to get a definitive answer.

well as you say everything is trial an error...
so I took the top fan off and fitted that to the lower front panel as an intake
( it moves some serious amounts of air even running quiet )
I took the led one from the front panel and fitted it to the top as an exhaust..

my 7950 is sitting at 31c so that has dropped my hard drive has dropped to 22c and cpu seems to be averaging around the 14c mark.. :D
