Bugbear's "Next Car Game" need your vote - Steam Greenlight.

Just had a little go I like the update yes their is some bugs in high settings but that should hopeful be fix in the next update.

Steam forums people are not happy as it is more of a simulator then arcade.

From what I can see from the Steam forums, people aren't happy because it actually involves skill to drive now.QUOTE]

Yeah pretty much this. I found that for most corners you actually have to brakenow which obviously makes sense.

For some reason last night every online race was an utter lag fest. Also DX11 always crashes for me at the start of every race, although to be fair it does say "experimental".

I played a few single players races last night and i like the update, just hope they iron out a few kinks here and there.

Hotfix is out

First hotfix for yesterday's major update is out, addressing some of the more critical issues.

Please find the changelog here:
Fixed a bug with prediction causing massive lag with remote cars in multiplayer.
Fixed cars not being located to their start grid positions in multiplayer.
Fixed cars sometimes flying to space and through ground.
Fixed rendering being shattered after alt+tab in DX9.
Fixed leaderboards crashing beyond 50 entries.
Fixed menus receiving mouse input with Steam overlay active.
Fixed slow spherical camera rotation with mouse when a wheel is active.
Set wheel default speed sensitivity to zero.
Added camera shake intensity slider.

I backed this over a year ago before it was even greenlit on steam as it sounded like it will be a new flatout game, well disappointed so far at how it has turned out.

I bought this on the steam summer sale and got around to installing it yesterday due to massively limited internet, it's literally another dayz alpha ripoff, was stunned by the lack of features for a game that I've seen on the store for an age

to many companies are using early access and kickstarter when they know they will then have to rely on continual sales to actually fund the games development so the games never get finished unless they keep having money coming in from more people buying.

they always seem to be side projects that get stuck on the back burner.

hopefully dirt won't end up with the same slow death roll

The cars generally feel more understeery but the old physics issue of sudden unsavable spins at low speed is still present if stability control is turned off.

I can't get the handbrake to work either. Lightly tapping it was useful at getting the front end pointed in, as was lifting off suddenly to induce some oversteer. All that's gone, such a letdown after 9 months of nothing.

I agree too. The hotfix yesterday has appeared to fix the horrendous lag issues which is great.

I just need to learn to control the cars properly again, playing with a pad with no assists is great fun, until you get it wrong....

After a bit more play last night the update isn't a total disaster to be fair. The visuals will be restored as they add back trackside assets , lighting conditions etc and if they fix a few issues with the vehicle physics it will drive pretty well.

They already fixed the awful shakey cam in a hotfix with a slider and say they will tweak some numbers to bring the damage and carnage levels back up too.

If this is true, fine by me.

Always thought this game/engine could offer more than just an "arcade" racer.

I do not mean, full on, balls out Simulation but more on the side of simulation more than arcade.

I agree, they went through a phase of testing arcadish handling and it just wasn't fun. Theres loads of arcade racers around if people want that.

But I do hope they eventually add in some tracks with the crazy stunts we saw in the alpha 2.0 peek from ages ago (loops and jumps etc ) :D
