now onto the issues,

first off i cant find where to put the front 3 usb ports onto the motherboard its labelled 2.0usb3

secondly when i load up the computer it turns on fine, but doesnt show any computer information and says no hard drive detected. however when it boots up both are there,

thirdly im not sure if this is connected but it displays the MSi logo as if in set up mode however you cannot see it clearly due to it being over magnified. Also when trying to setup it freezes. however so far i can use the computer fine.

sorry if this is in the wrong section.

if any one can help thats would be great and if you want to pop over and have a look im happy to pay. ( southsea )

Think thats all.

Thanks , James

Your motherboard should come with a manual, or a leaflet or something with information. This will tell you where you plug the case USB ports.

Make sure the HDDs have th epower cable and the data cables plugged in, then make your BIOS boot from CD first and install windows, this should sort everything out. Just really check all cables, and sort out your BIOS boot options and which HDD is your main one etc.

Your third problem will most likely be your monitor not displaying the low resolution properly. This is normally fixed by auto-resizing on your monitor, normally by pressing ok a couple of times.

what do you mean the computer doesnt see them, do you mean on the loading screen before the windows is starting screen? if so its probably because raid controller is enabled but no drives are set to a raid array, or maybe you have 2 sata controllers and one has nothing connected to it.

yes nothing shows up at all when it should list all the controllers and hardware,

just says no hard drive detected.

.

there is no guide how to do this stuff lol.

if you actually go into the bios is it there?

there should be an option to change storage controllers, just make sure they are set to AHCI (might require a fresh install) and any raid ones disabled. if they are, then its just you have 2 sata controllers and one is telling you nothing is connected to it, so just ignore it or plug one drive into it so you feel better :)

Literally built a very similar rig today. The front USB ports should connect to a little red rectangle as the base of the mobo.

ok, so start from the very begining, listing your issues as you go.
you have fitted everything into the case
wired everything up apart from the front usb
inserted your windows cd and installed windows
installed drivers

thought u did the build ? did u have 2 hd's connected when installing windows. could be why windows wont boot with just 1 hd in as it got confused when installing. so u would need to rebuild the boot sector for what ever hd u chose using your windows disk.

right the build is done everything is as it should be apart from this cable.
i installed the OS up and that seemed to work ok,
now when i turn on the computer it comes up at the start bit with

Hard drive not detected.

then the msi logo comes up and freezes then completes the load and goes to windows fine...

thats about it really .

the usb cable should just plug into a big (normally blue i think) plastic socket, checking that one of the pins in the corner is missing.
as for the no hard drive message, that sounds normal, you just have more than one controller.

so how can i fix this hard drive issue,

shame no one lives in or around portsmouth to help haha

there is no issue with your hard drives. its just you dont have anything plugged into one of your controllers. swap the sata sockets you are using until it says its found a drive, but all that will do is move you to a different controller, which might be slower.
or it could just be raid is turned on, so check bios and check what the storage controllers are set to.
