Build Log : Nocturnal [Eyefinity]

nice pics, I have this monitor and wanted to buy another 2 for eyefinity but was woundering how you hooked them up as i thought you needed 1 monitor with a displayport and these monitors do not have them.

cheers

Meridiusuk - Hey mate. You will need an active display port Adapter from OCUK to convert it from DVI to displayport.

Darksun, Jim and Sjc - Cheers chaps! Richard really did an awesome job.

MeridiusUK - Nope not at all mate.

Mikejasonsmith - You will need the following.
2 x DVI Cables. I recommend getting one really long cable (5m) for the furthest one. And 2 normal ones of course which already come with the monitor.
1 x Displayport Adaptor (Active)

Your 5970 should already come with a mini display port converter to a normal display port so just the 3 above cables.

holy crap that is nice, what are the white cables? guessing for Watercooling, but what are you using thinking about a nice upgrade to maybe something a bit beefier and with some sort of watercooling :)

even though everything says DONT its water + electric = explosion
how does a watercooling system work? i have seem that some have cables coming out of there system - where to?

Hi Mike,

In my opinion, Yes. The 5970 is an amazing card. You should be able to get 5870 clock speeds without any issues as well. My Card has a waterblock fitted by Richard though so I'm able to push the clocks a lot higher. But the 5970 has my vote. Along with the 10.3B Catalyst Drivers.

Note - I'm sure Richard will vouch for your choice of monitor too :D

I've got a short video on facebook if you'd like to see the monitors in action. Its set up so everyone can see it.

Thanks Sam, that helps.

I was getting to the point where my brain was melting - some people were saying 5970 and others were saying consider 2x5870...decisions, decisions.

What I will say though is that your setup has inspired me to be a bit braver - I have ordered a Dell U2711 off another well known site but once I saw your rig I decided to go eyefinity...will just have to try and sell the Dell...

Your rig is mindblowing mate - I dont know how you sleep at night knowing that thing is in the next room! lol

hey sam,

Im interested in a build identical to yours. Atm, I need to start planning parts and pieces. How much was the cost of just the pc for you?

Cheers,
