Building A BBQ

relieved to see this is a drum barbecue and not some monstrosity made from bricks and with an open grill. If a bbq hasn't got a lid, it is a waste of time. Carry on!

We have progress

Although stupid rotisserie hasn't turned up yet :(.

Don't know if I should cut it in half or just cut a panel out of the front.

And yes my welding is ****, nothing a grinder can't smooth out after an hour.

Oh and don't pick up metal you have just welded :o

That looks bloody awesome:D I'm jealous. How stable is it? Might be worth cross bracing it at the back.

pretty stable there's a brace at the back, should have one on the front but I didn't get enough angle iron. That's 14 meters of the stuff and I have about 1-1.5meters in smallish offcuts left.

When I saw you say cut it in half I thought you meant just doing it hobo style and cooking some chicken on a stick.

just goto a pound shop and get a throw away bbq! there only a pound!

They're crap, and they're wasteful.
I suppose we should go buy economy burgers and value sausages to cook on it as well, they're cheap.

Proper BBQing is to be done on a decent BBQ with decent food.
The only thing disposables are any good for is cooking at festivals and stuff.

Liking this though, looking to be a decent build.

My dad built one a few years ago. The pillock decided to make the handle for the lid out of metal too :/ so has to douse a teatowel in water before lifting it.

It works great, need to have a bottle of water to spray onto the coal because they get too hot!

What? Great idea if you want to scold your hand with steam I guess. Never pickup hot things with a wet cloth/towel - that's seriously retarded.

what bout if your stuck in a building thats on fire, arn't you ment to like grab a towel and soak it in water then cover yourself in it, do those people get steamed to death lol?

im sure his dad wouldn't do it if he was getting burnt from that also, else he may as well just hold the handle.
