Building a computer

On My computer it says this

hard disc drivers (1)
local disc (c:)
912 GB free of 931 GB

so is everything ok? and my dad has my motherboard cd and is at work

sounds about right. unless you actually wanted to put the os in a specific partition

oh and if you have another pc/laptop you could download the necessary network drivers from the manufacturers website and burn them to a cd or memory stick and install them that way

Yeah that looks ok. Looks like Windows has installed onto the first partition fine.

Right click on "My Computer" "Properies", under "System" it should now read;

Installed memory (RAM): 4.00GB
System type: 64-bit Operating System

Just to confirm the 64-bit operating system has been installed.

No luck with resetting the router? Try restarting the machine if you haven't done so since the latest installation of Windows.

yeah it does say that, and i've tried restarting machine/router but the internet still isn't coming on, i'll have to try the cd in the morning.

cheers for the help lads.

I do, and i've actually already tried to do this (for an external hard drive i can use to transfer), but i can't find them :D

Of course he's on the forum!

Good call.

For a future note, this is what you should be doing. Installing the latest drivers from the Internet (much easier when your machine can actually get online). Keeps everything upto date. Try to avoid the CD drivers as they'll often be out of date but keep them handy just in case your having problems.

my screen resolution doesn't seem in focus either, this used to happen on my old computer but it used to be fixed once i downloaded all the drivers off the dell site. could be being paranoid though because i have a new monitor also.

is the onboard audio working? if not then you need the first option aswell
'Realtek Function driver for Realtek Azalia audio chip (Including Microsoft UAA Driver in English edition'

right click on desktop and select screen resolution and set it to whatever your monitors native res and frequency should be

You'll need the

"Realtek LAN Driver" and the audio one mentioned above.

Download them to a temporary folder.

Installed them one by one.

Restart the machine before you reinstall the next one.

Try changing the resolution of the screen as above to the native resolution. If you have got you graphics card box, use the CD to install the graphics card drivers. Once you are online then you can install the lastest drivers from the internet.

can't see an option for that? says detect and identify

beneath detect and identify do you not see summat like this

wee bit of advice, do things one at a time, did you get the lan working yet? maybe do this first, then audio and then have a look at getting the screen res sorted.

my internet is now on and my screen/resolution looks great :D i couldn't thank you lads enough for your help, really really appreciate it!

Nice one. Glad to hear it all up and running. Get gaming on that 6950, maybe read about flashing it to a 6970?!;)

Looking forward to seeing some pictures and a couple of benchmarks seeing as we're now on page 5 of this thread...

Amazing feeling isn't once it all up and running and knowing you built it.
