[Buildlog] GAME HARD, FOLD HARDER

Tunnel vision lol :p

:D ;)

Can't wait to see the end product.

Thank you very much, I can't wait either :)

Those Ram heatsinks look so lush.

Keep up the good work sir.

Thank you for your kind words sir.

This is looking extremely tidy and I am sure will be stunning when completed and something to be proud of. Keep going I'm impressed.

Thanks a lot. That is a huge compliment.

wow very nice i will be cooling my memory soon on my next build

Well I personally think having heatsinks always looks better than no heatsink. Even if it's not needed ;)

---------------------------------------

Another baby step. I fitted these babies to my motherboard. I changed the silver screws to black ones I accidentally happened to have left from my top grill. And they fit in perfectly

Just a few pics, hopefully soon with the next update being assembling the gfx card + waterblock + awesome backplate :D

This is looking stonking!

subbed!

Thank you very much

Maybe I have been living under a rock, I have not heard of water cooled RAM before! Admitidely I am not a water cooler, Next build I will do that, nom nom nom

haha each to their own. There are probably many things I haven't sen myself either :)

Completely pointless cooling the ram

I Love it :)

haha well not completely pointless, but yeah it is more about the looks.

Looks awesome, keep it up!

Thank you!

looking good, love the RAM coolers :D

Thanks a lot.

The Raystorm blocks look really good.

I agree! Thanks.

------------------------------------

Ricardo was nice enough to send me these renders. I designed them partially but of course he made them work.

I will receive them somewhere next week. I can't wait myself. The renders look amazing to me, but that is my opinion of course :)

Okay well yesterday I spend almost the entire evening fitting the block to the card.

The KFA2 card I have is a reference card. And the XSPC waterblock is meant for reference cards. But they didn't get a long very well.
And it wasn't the layout of the card itself. It were the double DVI ports and the plexi top of the waterblock. They collided so the block would be turned a few degrees making it si NO holes lined up and it wouldn't drop over the parts of the card.

So I had to adjust the DVI port side and also file down the corner and side of the plexi top. Man I was upset
I had over 500 euros in gear in front of me and it should fit but it didn't and now I am here using a file on this stuff making it impossible to ever sell them again or send them in for RMA.

I will post pictures of it today or tomorrow. I got it to fit eventually. But I will have to take it apart again and do some more modification to the waterblock because now the part near the ports won't touch the thermal pads. Tonight I am going to use the dremel and slowly make the corner a tad smaller to it can touch the card completely. For my 2nd card I am getting an EVGA and I will see wether the problem lies with the waterblock or the gfx card.

On the other hand I received and fitted the custom backplates and they were just
They look amazing. They're just pure art in my opinion.

Pictures coming today or tomorrow.

Love the colours can't wait to see this beast finished!

Great job.

Thank you very much!

Epic build mate

Thanks!

looking superb. love the 3D grills!

Thank you.

i too have just received a package from Ricardo, AMAZING work as ever. I cant wait to see what he sends you.

I DEMAND PICTURES OF THE CUSTOM BACKPLATES!!!!

FINE JEEZ!!!! :D :p

Here we go then.

---------------------------

This will be a few replies in a row. Because you can't put an unlimited amount of pictures in one reply. First I would like to show you the received gfx card backplate. The other one I will show when I have actually bought a second gfx card.

Here is my precious :baby:

Usually I buy all my parts from Coldzero. He already helps me a lot byt doing the designing with me so I gladly pay him for his parts. But this shipment was on him. He wanted to donate me the backplates as a sponsorship. I was honoured. I mean not only did I receive exactly what I imagined it to be. But I also get them for free. Thank you so much Coldzero (Ricardo). Your skills are amazing and your work is just perfection. To also get a sponsorship by you is just

I like yours as well. Not every build can use a busy gfx card like I have here.

------------------------------------

Here is a big pile of photos I made during the mounting of the waterblock and backplate. Perhaps a bit too many. But I hope you don't mind. I really like the artwork of KFA2 so I made extra photos of that on the gfx card.

Again thank you so much KFA2 and Coldzero for the parts.

i wouldnt of filed anything tbh, would have sent the xspc block back saying it doesnt fit

pretty poor of xspc if thats how its meant to be. dont want to doubt you but your sure you installed it right? weird tbh as all the bolt holes would have lined up so i guess you had to of got it right

Yeah I mean there is no other way then to line up the holes. And it was impossible.
Can't RMA it anymore. My 2nd card will be an EVGA so I can see it the cards are the same and the blocks. Then I will know who is to blame.

Time for a small update. I did some minor work on the waterblock top and now it fits perfectly and completely flat. So happy with that. Next to this I did some painting. I wanted to paint the PCI backplate black so the back of the case will be full black (and orange) and not show silver or black chrome. I will get covers for the ports I won't be using. Clean, black and clear of dust.

Next to this I started working on the 2 rear fans by Xilence. I thought I would do my regular routine of getting rid of the stickers, removing the lid and o-ring and the fan drops off.... WRONG!!!!! :nono: :miffed:

Xilence fans cannot be removed. SOOOOOOOOOOOOO I had to do it oldschool style with a lot of covering tape lolz. "welcome to this weeks episode of being creative with masking tape, I am your host for the evening Dr Hukkel"

It's threads like this that make me look at my bodge-box and cry :(

haha :D then hop to it and modify it :)
Anyone can modify a PC.

Very nice indeed.

The attention to detail is impressive. :)

Thank you very much for those kinds words.

Hukkel , will you be folding for OCUK?

Great build and its been inspiring me recently !

Hi, I am not sure yet but I think not. I will be folding with a group of Dutch friends maybe. But perhaps if they're not very enthousiastic about it I will join you guys afterall :)

Brilliant build log so far - keep up the good work!

Loving the cooling on the RAM and the GPU backplate too!

Thank you!

Fantastic build so far. Custom backplate looks very nice on the graphics card.

Thanks! I am also very happy with it.

I'm half way through this log and it is honestly the best log i've seen so far on here.

Firstly that case is lucky you bought it because you have literally transformed it from a wreck into a monster, kudos to your patience, you must have loads to persevere through something like that.

The other thing is that this log has proved you don't need GTX Titan's etc to make a solid build, but you do need a purpose, which, in this case, is folding and then gaming!

Looking forward to reading the rest.

Thank you very much for those kind words. Having big hardware is nice. But with the correct attitude and idea you can create a wonderfull modded build with a socket 775 system that is wonderfull to watch. I hope you will enjoy the rest of the log as well.

looking awsome, cant wait to see it finished :D

Thank you H68 :)

I have started to sleeve my cables so I can do some testfitting and see if I need to change up some colours.

Since it was so sunny today and light untill very late I shot a quick few photos of the 24 pin. Man I should invest into a better camera. My neighbour gets sick from me asking him for help all the time xD
But there would have been a much better photo of the gorgeous sleeving that way.
Something inside of me told me I needed white in there. I HAD to use 2 strings of white.

The combo I (for now) have chosen is Black, orange, black, shade 19, white, black and that mirrored.

you can just about make out that Shade 19, especially on the right hand mirrored side, just a very dark grey, especially next to the Black.

loving this build, seems to of taken forever!

Yeah in real life it give just a little touch of something else.

Indeed it is taking a lot of time haha. That is because I am partly dependant on other companies to create something I designed. Can't rush them. Plus money doesn't grow on my back haha Just bought a 2nd GTX670. Now saving up for the waterblock. Hopefully by then one or two new pieces have arrived as well and I have finished about all the sleeving.

Thanks for the compliment!

What sort of rivet gun did you buy?

I haven't bought one yet. I bought black rivets from MSPC-X but didn't need them yet.

This thread is epic. The ram has left me with no other choice than to be envious :) slick! keep up the work :D

Thank you very much for your kind words. I hope you will enjoy all the updates.

Just signed up to the forum and got to say i'm loving this build!!! I've started on my own build and doing a black ang orange one coz i just love the colours and my fav ones too, I don't know if i should water cool or not, deffo subin this thread!! Keep up the good work.

Thank you for following this build log :)
It doesn't matter what you choose to add or not as long as you are happy with it.

How I have sleeved these?

Go to youtube and search for videos of Lutro0. Watch them all and watch the master at work (not me). Discard all other bolony sleeving videos of people that use ghetto methods to sleeve or unpin. Then go to either mdpc-x or Lutro0 his own website and order what you need or want..... or drop me a PM/email and I can do it for you (but not for free of course).

Check my Facebook for multiple examples:

No problem :)

As I have shown I am now busy doing some sleeving. Deciding the colours and patterns and the actual sleeving itself. It is not easy measuring stuff because the build is not at my home atm due to some renovation going on here making a mess and causing lots of dust. So I have go move to where it is and back every time. Not really ideal. Today I went there to see if the 24 and double 8 pin were done right and if I needed to adjust the length of the 4 6-pins before sleeving them. While I was there I thougt I would take a few pictures of everything together. Just to let you know what is going on. Enjoy.

That looks incredible! Love the colour combinations, especially on the cables, and it's so neat too :D

What coolant/tubing colour are you going to use? orange? Black? White? :p

Thank you very much for the compliments.

The idea so far is to use clear tubing in the covered spaces (where the window doesn't show) and plexiglas pipes in the visible area. Not sure about using 12/10 plexi with fittings for bends or 12/8 plexi pipes and bend them using heat.

Small update. I need two more panels for the final build up of a lot of stuff. I am gettign 3 panels made up atm. This is the 3rd (not needed right away) part. The 5,25 inch bays side cover. The gfx are actually a lightbox so will light up. I hope to have the render of the rear panel soon as well. The last one will be the midplate.
