BulletStorm - Official Thread

Serious Sam and Painkiller were take-your-brain-out-get-drunk-and-kill-stuff fun games. Looks like this is going to be a bit like that...hopefully it'll be better. Looks nice from the vids.

Destructoid has a report on plans for copy protection in Bulletstorm, along with a follow up on the DRM in People Can Fly's upcoming first-person shooter. They note that the Electronic Arts Online Disclosures for PC Games Page indicates the digitally distributed version of the game requires a persistent internet connection, but follow that up with People Can Fly denying this in a tweet, seeming to blame the internet, rather than EA for the confusion (later backing off), saying: "******* Internets... No, Bulletstorm PC does not require any constant connection, only for install and for online play (duh!)." True to that, clicking through to the EULA itself (Adobe Acrobat-format), we see it contains word on the game's Zero Day Piracy Protection (ZDPP) and Server Side Authentication (SSA), saying: "ZDPP requires a one-time access to the Internet. It may prompt users to enter their serial code (enclosed with purchase) in order to install their game. If the code is invalid, or entered before the product’s release date, the installed executable files will remain encrypted and unusable. SSA requires a one-time access to the Internet in order to authenticate your serial code. Please keep your serial code. You may need it to access online features and/or if you seek to install your game on more than one machine." The EULA also indicates the game will use the unpopular Games for Windows LIVE, saying it will require: "A Windows Live ID and Account, installation of the Games for Windows Live software, acceptance of the Games for Windows LIVE Terms of Use."

A Serial Code
Online Authentication
AND Windows Live ID and Account

DAMN!

I played the PS3 demo of this and thought it was pretty bad. I lost interest when I realised you can't jump. It just has a cheap feel to it. If you shoot/kill someone from behind you get a "rear entry" bonus:p

looks like a lot of fun looks good that you can grab things and stun them in the air and give em a good boot! haha

its looked like fun, but after trying the demo on the 360 its actually not that good. All the different ways to kill arent as satisfying as I thought they might be, the whole games seems to just be drag enemy with the leash thingy, then shoot them if they havent already died on the scenery, repeat......

Up on Steam for £30. Looks right up my street, but i'll be waiting for a price drop if there's going to be no demo.

Try before you buy. Played the demo on PS3 and wasn't impressed. I posted a similar observation to SpudMaster in the console forums about the lasso, drag, kill them if they havent died on-route, repeat mechanic.

The game seems to be yelling "look at me, look how cool this is" and fails miserably for it. I think some people will be taking those CoD comments back after playing it (as much as we'd all like to see something a bit different).

Bulletstorm’s planet is the single most beautiful location a game’s taken me to since Bioshock dragged me down to Rapture, and the game’s corridor-shooter design is careful not to make it any less believable as the holiday resort you quickly discover that it used to be.

What’s really interesting is that there are times where this concept of vacationing is also pursued in the level design. Without wanting to give too much away, those first four hours feature not just a train ride, but a water slide and a disco, and it’s all every bit as entertaining as it sounds.

How much is it on Steam?

Didn't notice it go up, will definatly be getting this, I love PCF's mindless shooter style and have been dying for something to break the realistic military shooter cycle.

I can't help but look at the screenshots on steam and just think 'well thats some nice post processing, wonder what the game looks like'.

his is a game that wants you to laugh so hard that you sneeze on yourself, but it's also a game that wants you to experiment as much as possible with the tools you've been given. Its cleverness is as lightly worn as it is unexpected. It's the best kind of guilty pleasure.

VERY short game, but high scores 9/10 ( 10/10 ) e.t.c
