Bungalows...thoughts?

yeah wtf do I know ignore me completely

you made some sweeping statements. e.g if the floor is uninsulated it will cost a fortune to heat. if thats the case, then either you make the decision of walk away or think, a couple of hundred quid spent on a bit of glasswool insulation (if suspended timber floor of course) and your floor (and wallet) is feeling the better of it. Same applies if its on two storeys really. The home report highlights the pros and cons of a house so the buyer can make an informed decision on whether they want to spend a few quid to improve the place which can save in the long run or whether they walk away.

your point about the gutters / fascia didn't make much sense either. If they're looked after properly then there isn't an issue. It might take a bit longer to maintain them but the principals still the same. Look after it and it will last.

E.g My folks moved from a semi detached two up two down to a bungalow in 1984, they extended it in 1986 and since then all they've had to do is replace the odd tile (chimney blew up and general wear and tear) a bit of gutter replacement (snow load bending a section of guttering) and a lick of paint every so often so in about 28years there hasn't been that much of a hassle in a bungalow.

I've never thought they were only owned by old people although maybe that's because two of my friends live in bungalows and they're basically the only bungalows I've ever really consciously noticed. I would find it weird only having one floor though and I wouldn't really want to live in a Bungalow with my parents and sibling as it would feel less private for some reason although this obviously doesn't apply to you OP :p.

do it - you'll likely get a bigger garden for your money, feels more spacious than a house of similar sq footage as you note.

Also in future you could convert the attic or if you had the cash - knock it down and build a house.

Bungalows are great. Lived in a few of them several years ago and I prefer having everything on one floor cos I'm a lazy ass.

I had to google the difference between a bungalow and a 'normal' house so I think for that reason alone you should ignore my opinion (bungalows look fine).

Haha really? What crazy land do you live in?

New Zealand, where north is west and south is blue.
