Bungalows...thoughts?

I lived in a bungalow growing up for 20 years, hated it, you cant go for a **** without bumping into someone, theres just no privacy in a bungalow at all

Only if it's the size of a postage stamp which i suppose many of them are, get a good converted large bungalow and you will never have that issue.

I know lots who don't like bungalows, but I have seen plenty of stunning examples. I personally wouldn't care, as long as it met my criteria.

My aunt and uncle built there own bungalow years ago, it's massive!!!

If done right I'd live in a bungalow without a doubt!

Not too expensive to be quite honest, with a decent sized bungalow the separation distance between Living rooms / bathrooms / bedrooms is quite large, and even greater than in a two story house when often you get a bedroom stacked ontop of the livingroom.

For example we need walkie talkies during maintenance activities when working one side of the house to the other, even shouting your loudest you can't hear the other person.

Whatever man I lived there for 20 years you havent even seen it, fact is a bungalow is all the same level unless its been converted and growing up, being a teenager etc I hated it due to the lack of privacy

Which is the man reason Bungalows are so popular, scope for conversion is massive, you can gain large amounts of space and easier than extending a two story house.

From the age of 3 - 10 i lived in a new build bungalow and it wasn't exactly massive, so i agree not ideal since you couldn't get away from your parents, layout and size make a huge difference to that problem though.

round here bungalows fetch around a 50% premium over an equivalent sized house, more then enough reason not to

I love big bungalows and I'm not old! I think you a decent chunk of land to build a decent one though

Personally I really like Bungalows, they are great for first time buyers like me. You usually get a driveway + garage with offstreet parking, front and rear garden, a loft to expand up into and they are generally quieter due to not being squished to close together or right up to the street/footpath. As an alternative to a terraced house I much prefer them, though I wouldn't say no to some massive old victorian terrace with a huge garden in years to come!
