Burnout Paradise developers talk 360 v PS3

What a laugh, just finished my blast around Paradise city.
Won a few challenges, mostly by fluke ;)

Had a few whiney sounding kits chatting... and had one spacktard chasing me around, the entire time, trying to take me out... ruining my jumps and stuff!

Still, quite a laugh, I managed a few cool traffic taketowns on him while he was chasing me, took town a few others, sadly, none of them had cams. I'm still yet to see a cam shot after a takedown!

Guess I'll see some after the full game arrives.... I can't complain, I don't have a cam yet either!

V1N.

All I've heard from people in the industry is that the PS3 version at the very least runs better. There are supposed improvements in the visuals on the PS3 version as well, although I couldn't see any obvious ones.

They were saying in the "i wish" form :) ;D

Wonder when you will get bored (warned) for baiting other members.

nothing sad in it at all, your the sad one for going around and spamming xbox live OcUk members with verbal abuse with your last suspension and if you stopped spouting your usual trolling remarks about anything PS3 related in every single ps3 thread and always acting like the innocent bystander.

LOL did you listen to the podcast!?!

Well I have heard from "people in the industry" the contrary

Indeed, but then again, Criterion said some odd stuff.

Firstly they said the rumour that PS3 was weaker in terms of GPU was wrong, but then say it needs the CPU which can do video work to "bring it back up", so then the GPU is weaker... Seems odd.

There is nothing in it.

there's literally going to be a teeny tiny difference between the two, certainly nothing to get worried about.

PS3 version might be 2fps faster, 360 version might have better AA - who really cares?

I believe he was referring to the graphics subsystem as a whole, it's a common misconception that PS3 is "graphically inferior" based on GPU comparison alone. With Cell behind it did PS3 really need a GPU of Xenos's capability? obviously not.

From a gamers perspective the only major difference I can see there being between the two versions is noise level from the respective consoles as they stream data from disc.

Absolutely, graphically they can do the same. However GPU wise the Xbox360 is more powerful which they said wasn't true, but then basically confirmed it was. I found it pretty amusing.

However, you won't find anyone on these forums who's said the consoles are like for like more times than me :p.

This thread reminds me of when I was in Primary School and folks were arguing about the SNES and the Mega Drive.

No, don't really see why anything within the podcast makes what I have previously heard/read cease to have happened, so you can keep your .

Makes no difference to me if one is 10% better or they are exactly the same.

What I found most interesting about the pod cast was after the 360 was released and before the launch of the PS3 all we heard was how the PS3 was twice as powerful as the 360 (Xbox 1.5), how the PS3 would blow the 360 out the water. It was like the Burnout guys were trying to argue that the PS3 was 'as' powerful as the 360. How blu-ray despite the massive amount of size was 'as' good as DVD for access speed if you played it properly. It's an interesting change in stance.

Well, I guess many would argue that the latent power of the ps3 still hasn't been harnessed yet. If by the end of 2008 there still is not a game out that makes people go "wow, the ps3 really is as powerful as sony said!" then I think we can lay the whole issue to rest. As of yet, it's still up in the air.

I think we can already lay that one to rest - Sony's consoles are never as powerful as they originally claim.

even the developers said we ain't seen nothing yet on what either console can do in a few years time, although it did seem that they was hinting at the PS3 did have more potential due to development tools being not up to 360 standard (hence the poor ports at launch) and what they are finding out with the cell and now with newer development kits.

Good listen, but it was very unbiased. As in, unbiased to the point of having no opinion. Everything was about equal etc.

Also, they did say how great Burnout looked several times. Judging purely by the demo, which might or might not be accurate, the game looked great, but not overly noteworthy.

The most interesting part was how they said they was still a lot more power they could get out of both consoles.

yeah that is right what you said was genious and very valid

All I've heard from people in the industry is that the PS3 version at the very least runs better.

The rolleyes is for sarcasm btw

e.g. I have heard from "people in the industry" that the ps3 version contantly drops to 15fps online
