Well I now have some points. Was stuck in traffic and answered my phone, just as a police car went past, I wasnt even moving. 3 points, the officer was very friendly, remarking how he doubted I would be able to insure my car anymore. At the end of the day its my own fault, but it just seems that there are so many people out there who deserve them more than me.

Not really, you're taking risks with other peoples lives by not giving full attention to the road and the 1.5t of metal you are in control of.

No sympathy dude, sorry.

Unlucky, although people using phones while driving is one thing that does annoy me.

Is it really going to affect the insurance that much though?

Yeah it annoys me seeing people use them as well, but I had the hand brake on, so I kind of figured that it was unlikely I would suddenly kill anyone.

Insurance is scary, if this puts it up much more I'm going to jack it in. Fast cars are fun but I'll probably just use it for track days or something.

oh yes, using your phone whilst driving, the political equivalent to shooting a child in the face with a shotgun.

Simple answer is, get a hands free kit, no call is important enough for you to take such a risk.

soon u wont even be able to have a cd player in your car or maybe even they will take the heater controls away when does it stop yes phones are bad but look at all the other hazards

Live and learn I see so many people still using mobiles, I look forward to each of them being caught :). What car do you have BTW.

yeah its bad whilsy driving but stoped with handbrake on is a little harsh as he said hes not going to write his car off when going no where

would all the do gooders get a grip.

He was in TRAFFIC with the HANDBRAKE on. Like he is going to kill someone being still.

If he was flying down the motorway at 70 I agree its dumb. in traffic doing 0mph its stupid and officer also sounds like a moron. whats your insurance got to do with him. how u insure it after he feels the needs to prove his power is your problem.

Doesn't matter, still illegal, your not giving full attention, its as simple as that and thats how the copper saw it.

I will admit too that if I got caught doing it I would take it on the chin... not matter how 'trivial' it may seem being sat at a standstill with my handbrake on.

Why is it the half (half as it was still wrong) sensible people who do answer it when its relatively safe like in this situation :(

What about the (other) mental van drivers? There was even some tit in a fiesta st who nearly tried taking me out yesterday while on the phone :( :(

And if the traffic started moving? Would the OP just sit there backing up the lane until he finishes his call? I doubt it.

coppers nowa days just think they are beter than u

policing is not about saving lifes and being good to the people its about power and money

when i see a police man i dnt feel safe i feel woried that he will pull me over

u see what i mean

Not always, they're more interested in not victimising people, I dont see this as victimisation... just law enforcement which they are paid and trained to do.

if you cant drive while talking (assuming its hand free) you shouldnt deserve to drive anywayu

Better ban smoking while driving as you wont be giving your full attention.
