*******C.A.R.S - Community Assisted Race Sim*********

i thought the graphics were supposed to be great on this???

it looks terrible on mine maxed out only the cars look good.

is it the same for everybody???

first:
its a work in progress game for gods sake..

second:
go to specsavers. the graphics are far from terrible. with the exception of anti aliasing (which is a very high priority for them) the graphics are superb, far better than a lot of current racing games. even if you dont take into account that the game is at least a year away from being finished the graphics look amazing

also, dont forget that none of the tracks are finalised. Connecticut hill is probably the closest to being done, but even that isnt finished yet

damn only asked jesus, ive read all over the place that the graphics are very good..

if you think reaper that the graphics are superb on the tracks like the scenery you need to go to specsavers mate...

it was only the tracks that i was asking about..

you lot need to get out more...

i have rf2 BTW...

Love the overreaction, he has a point, the graphics are something like:
Cars = awesome
Tracks/Trackside objects = quite good but nothing special
Trees = meh
Grass = ugh

With the exception of the cars the graphics are merely 'ok'

But of course there's the good old 'it's a work in progress' trump card, woohoo

This is true, but it's not like it's a new rendering engine, or that they haven't been in development for well over a year, or that they're not 'selling themselves' based on the graphics...

But more to the point, poster A posts a very accurate observation, and the first reply is a completely unhelpful "it's a work in progress" and the second reply is telling him he's blind and that the graphics are superb, which is a clearly wrong.

And remember that CARS is 'for sale' right now, if you sell something people are going to comment on it in it's current state, they have that right.

well its not for sale as a released/full game :) its a sale for a place in a beta test :) if it was for sale it would be released literally on consoles(they are planning to do that) and all other platforms yet it is PC only and after joining their "team/becoming supporter" of the project - and by being a supporter you get the early builds.

still its odd when people judge something that isn't finished which is what annoys me :)

amen to that brother...

Had a fluke lap and ranked 8th place Conneticut Hill GP - Pirault Turbo. Fame at last! (not for long I'm sure) :D

They have started work on Silverstone, but more interested in the other four UK tracks they are planning to laser scan. The handling does seem improved to previous builds.

I have to say, considering it is in Alpha, I definitely find this interesting. Potential is there.

Reminds me of TOCA Race Driver 3, not sure why - lol

Await development with interest.

I assume no online play at the moment, just time trials and CPU races?

Even in Alpha stage it appears to be in a better state than rF2 which is beta! Im happy enough with rF1 at the moment untill these two have matured abit more.

Look out for Asseto Corsa as well, DX11 sim from the NetKarPro devs.

Build 129 (13/1/12, Team Member+)

Added a checkbox to clear your profile to the installer, PLEASE LEAVE THIS CHECKED FOR THIS BUILD, AS PROFILES NEED TO BE DELETED….
– please note: graphics config files are not being affected, so you won’t need to reconfigure your graphics
Wheel convex shape vertices are precomputed on startup
Number of sides to approximate the wheel can be specified by integer, to allow for precision control e.g. machine speed
Freecam rotation now scaled by tan of half-FoV so that zoomed in movement feels appropriate rather than being over-sensitive
Added livery selection
FFB tweaks based upon early feedback (reduce centre spring under driving straight line, boost fine detail a little)
Dialled a little more weight back into the centre spring
Caterham R500: Ultra LOD settings file
Ariel 300, ultra detail: ignore chassis mesh until we reoranize the models
Formula B: reorganized models to allow Ultra detail level
New Formula B export
New California Raceway export

Aside from the Force Feedback & Input System improvements that have been started with the last build, Slightly Mad Studios will be adding several major features to Project CARS, including:

Night Lighting
Dynamic Time/Weather System
Tire Deformations
Racing School
Multiplayer
Pit-to-Car Radio
and much more…

Wondering if any of you guys have had this issue....

I've not really kept up with the CARS community but every few weeks I try out a build and have the same FFB issues, in that as soon as I get on track my wheel has massive center spring force to the point you can barely turn it.

I use a DFGT with clubsport pedals, I have all the extra force gubbins turned off in the logitech profiler and the wheel is fine in iRacing etc, ust seems that any settings I use in CARS has the same issue.
