Started todo some setup testing today, found out that if you make the rear stiff than the front then you are in oversteer city, made the front stiffer then stock settings, adjusted the camber to help with to understeer and the rear from washing out in some corners, made the braking less powerful to which i moved the brake balance more rearwards to help the car turn in underbraking but all those changes only made 2/3 tenths difference so started to play with the downforce which made the most difference, went from 1:41.2 to 1:40.4

recorded a lap incase anyone wanted to see it.

I was just going to say braking reduces downforce through corners so that car must have a ton of it to carry through so stable. Apparently that is the case! :

I prefer to see in a game how a fat lazy car travels, like a dodge viper :D

so started to play with the difference which made the most difference

which was?

slip diff setup was always crucial in gt4 :o

Hey guys, I guess im very "new" to PC gaming, so i'm wondering what are the best driving games/sims on PC?

Loved GT5 on my ps3, and the other GTs!

Best overall but also most expensive probably iracing, best physics -NKpro, Live for speed, iracing.

Project CARS is still pre-alpha, but worth 10 euros - looks great and is decent to drive.

Live for SPeed is free, and has physics that are on a completely different level to GT5 - give it a shot first!

Ok guys, so i just bought the junior package :)

Hopefully i like it, and upgrade it along the line.

Just got a few noob questions whilst i wait for it to download.

1. Don't judge me, but can i use an xbox360 pad with it? (I have a DrivingForce GT also) Sometimes i just like to have a quick drive around and don't want to set the wheel up.

2. Is it easy to install new cars and tracks etc?

3. Are there any F1 mods yet?

I use an xbox360 pad and it is pretty good support in the latest patches for it. The mods are not forthcoming yet but I think as someone pointed out earlier in thread it is possible to skin cars and a few new modded car models are coming out. There is no formula one car mod as yet, but quite a few cars available based on formula one cars from different eras which you can use on any track (even the go-kart tracks if you are that way inclined).

With Junior membership you can download the latest build on the first friday of each month. So although it's a little bit of pain to uninstall and download a new version, the new goodies each month make it something to look forward too, for me at least :D

fyi with iracing, i found it best to get camber fairly low, run a lot of caster. and high camber does make braking worse as your reducing the front tyre contact patch.

stiffing the front will make it understeer, soften oversteer. on the rear its the opposite :)

adding some - toe helps stabalize the car a lot too

Started on Bathurst today, what an awesome but annoying ****ing track when pushing right on the limit. This lap is current best on the leaderboard but not sure how long it will last.

Nice driving, I can't even get around this track without hitting a wall, I slide everywhere on the hills.

Also how do you toggle the Lap times overview?

Thanks

This Bathurst feels to wide and open in my opinion, especially the last few decending corners before the long straight of sector 3, still bloody tricky tho.

You can assign a key to toggle laptimes, think its called hud sub-menu or something like that in control settings.
