*******C.A.R.S - Community Assisted Race Sim*********

This is what PC sim physics should look like in 2012, can shift 2 graphics engine (never mind the actual physics) adapt?

not sure if serious? This looks rubbish :o the only thing that looks good is the tyre physics the rest is not much different to rfactor. shift/2/cars are way nicer to look at

Terrible Sim, had the beta and asked for my money back, looks like it was made in 2004.

Really? I 've never played it, and it looked great in that video, maybe they made some progress since you had it? The car models do not look to be a lot less detailed than in shif..., khm sorry, project CARS :)

The physics and the way the car interacts with the road just looks very nice in RF2.

I would say the two cars and tracks that are the furthest along in development are the Asano x4 Touring car, Formula B, Connecticut Hill and Bologna so I would say we could have two?

Formula B - Bologna

Asano X4 Touring - Connecticut Hill

We wouldn't need proof of times or assists, its only a bit of fun :)

Guess I'll have to learn the rest of Connecticut Hill. Hopefully my time in the X4 Touring around the short version of the track will stay on pole for a little while.

Been driving with no aids on.

Anyone really invested in C.A.R.S?

The old man has invested 2k

Ive gave them 100 Euros

Thats what these videos should be like. ^^ If it's one thing I can't stand about the majority of rFactor videos is a whole video of slow motion. Mix it up for crying out loud and don't over do it.

I did not see much about physics there- we are not doubting artistic quality of CARS. Rfactor2 movie (there are equivalent clips for iRacing, Live for Speed etc) clearly shows "advanced physics" in action. CARS movie simply had the words written: ADVANCED PHYSICS- it talks the talk, but walking the walk?.. Not yet, but we still hope, they still ahve time.

the pCARS physics engine certainly can cope with all of the features i see there. i seem to remember somewhere that the devs said they would try and implement that tyre wobble you see in the slowmo F1 shots when the tyres get some air... something i didnt see in (the first two minutes of) that video

Well i got the Junior package last night and started doing some testing on different cars/tracks but i settled on Connecticut Hill GP with the Asano x4 (DTM car), i couldn't be bothered to mess around with changing the setup so i went straight into time trial mode to see what the game is like on the limit.

After about 20mins learning the track i started to push the car to see what the grip level was (that part is laughable), i could push the car to the limit very early on but the tyre physics are not sim level and not arcade level but more of a mix in between them both.

After about 40mins doing that combo i looked on the leaderboard to see i was in 23rd not bad for default set and first try of the game, the WR for that combo was 1:41.7 but i only could manage 1:43.4 but i know with a good lap i can do 1:42.9, anyway i recorded one of my laps close to the end.

@Bosch - there are quite a few options for HDR inc off. Are you in the thread purely to criticise everything?

Nice driving , thanks for posting!

I can see that the "overly dark cockpits" bug made its way from Shift2 as well...

i cant find big enough palm to hit my face with.. :| really? this game is in ALPHA stage you know how early into development that is? i don't think you realize that everything will still change 10's of times :]

@Mr.Fantastic, you really shouldn't have to explain anything. Some people, even on the official forums are whining about the trees at BelgianForest not being the right height. They don't seem to grasp that the track resembled something out of stunt car racer a month ago.

IT'S NOT SHIFT AND IT'S NOT FINISHED!!!

Revised estimates are putting this at March/April 2013 for release.

Ok, ok:)

I'm not here just to criticise, as I have stated on several occasions even outside this thread that CARS graphics are IMHO the best that I have seen in any game. I haven ot seen anything more detailed and photorealistic.
Its great to hear that "dark cockpits" bug from Shift2 engine is not in CARS.

But really, I have only one criticism of CARS- physics. Nothing else! And even that is still solvable we all hope.

EDIT: Wow, 2013 sounds really long way away though!

New build 159 released for Team Member+.. yet more changes to handling / physics.

So much so they've reset the leaderboards this time round.

This is the thing, everyone is perfectly entitled to an opinion but please try not to base it on a totally unfinished product. It's like saying that someone's new house looks bloody awful cos the diggers are still in digging the foundations and it looks nothing like the architects plans! :)
