Edit: Also does anybody know how to make custom decals with GIMP? I tried using the templates and tutorial on WMD Forums but I still failed :p

if your having trouble with how to paint the car then this guide helped me: http://forum.wmdportal.com/showthread.php?3353-Gimp-skinning-guide

if your having trouble designing the paint in gimp then i honestly cant help you because i suck in gimp.

eventually i think there will be an in game paint editor, but dont quote me on that

Okay, I need some help/tips for this :D

I've had the basic membership since day 1 but I haven't really played the game that much as back then the physics were a bit broken and there were a few bugs causing me issues. I've downloaded the latest version available to me the other day due to all your guys awesome screenshots a raving comments about the cars feeling much better now!

Well it does feel and play far better than before which is awesome! But I can't get used to the control of the car, I'm pretty sure this is down to FFB/Wheel settings or maybe even some car setups. I'm using a Logitech G27 with 100% stock settings at the moment, I was just wondering if there is any settings you guys tweaked with to get the "right" feeling.

I'm mainly struggling with over steer with the backend spinning out like crazy and not being able to snap it back inline fast enough. Now, I know a lot of this is driver noobness :D But I don't tend to have this issue as badly in other games (LFS, Rfactor 1 + 2 etc) so I'm thinking I may need some tweaking of controls/setups but I have no idea where to start to be honest!

How are peoples fps on this? Mine is quite dire, not sure if crossfire is working (2x5850s)?

You need to use in game wheel calibration. Make sure when it asks you to turn the wheel 90 degrees that the number at the top reads 900. Also make sure the Logitech global settings allow the game to change settings.

Ok.

Two questions, one much odder than the other...
Normal question:
How's the AI on this? I like racing Sims, but really am not anywhere good enough to go online and race...

Weird question:
The way you buy into this, are you technically an investor etc... in the company, does it have nay effect on your finances/taxes and the such like....

AI is getting there but not great at the moment, but you can adjust it up or down so it can give you a race based on your own skill.

As for being an investor, that's sort of changed now. The first two tiers get the money they put in of the price of the game when it's released. The third tier get the game for free on release. After that I think you get a share if the profit based on your investment. It all changed when it was voted the game would be released as a full boxed retail game, rather than free to play with micro transactions.

Ok, so being someone that would rather not invest, and just pay now and get a free copy of the game when it's released what would you recommend?

Oh also, how much of a Graphics Card destroyer is it?

480 cope? (1920x1080)

Ah thanks for that :) I will take a look!

The AI is so much fun when you make them aggressive :p

My 2GB 6950 runs it maxed at 1080, just without the max amount of msaa. Looks stunning! :D

Thinking of full member as it doesn't seem like any responsibility is put on me xD

Auto updater exists?

Oh, and how many of the famous circuits are available?

There are a few but I dont have the latest build. Circuit de la sarthe and Bathurst are the ones I play most :p

I'm still a Team Member for now. Weekly builds were too tempting so upgraded from Junior back in November. I suspect a bigger temptation to upgrade to Full Member will come along at some point.

No auto updater. Download is up to ~2.5Gb now and has to uninstalled/reinstalled for each build.

Circuits are being added at a fair rate recently. I think they're listed on this thread. Not all arrive fully built and have lots of scenery etc still to be added. Bathurst I think was just a piece of tarmac and wall winding it's way through space at first! A challenge when the walls didn't stop you falling into the void! Great to watch them develop though and come to life.

No, afaik you need to download the latest build each day, week, month depending on what membership you buy.

Easy enough though as their torrent download is always very quick.

Oh, and how many of the famous circuits are available?

These are the ones I can remember off hand. They have different names in-game atm due to licensing reasons.

Mugello
Oschersleben
Zhuhai
Circuit de Catalunya
Silverstone
Imola
Watkins Glen
Monza
Donington
Road America
Rouen
Hockenheim

thought i'd let everyone know that CARS may not be accepting new members soon, so if you want to sign up, you better do it now

they are in negotiations with a big investor who will be providing the rest of the money. Ian and Andy have already confirmed that this investor is not EA, that the CARS team will still be calling the shots and that things wont change for people who have already signed up. they have said that if this doesnt happen they will not accept the investment

Would this mean they'd be closing out access to the alpha/beta altogether?
