I wasn't saying iRacing had the definitive physics and tyre model. I was trying to point out that being able to do donuts in 7th gear in an F1 car doesn't mean that the game is rubbish.

There's an awful lot of pCARS bashing that goes on in this thread and a lot of it is unjustified in my opinion. Especially when the game is so far away from being released and is still in alpha.
 
I don't have any problems with the pCars audio, I think its pretty good actually. I was just saying that the cars in iRacing don't sound terrible like Dg is making out.

the sounds are terrible but they maybe place holders but what worries is me for eg the evo sounds worse than the last audio change .

it sounds really bad. best thing is my mate who plays this has the evo :D in real life. ford focus sounds like a v8 diesel :D. as said if they are early place holders im just commenting on how stuff is now so hopefully they fix the terrible vehicle sounds and handling.

one thing i have commented on in the past and recently is how pcars is often promoted on the graphics yet never show through the actual drivers positions.

That sound upgrade on iracing sounds just like how I thought it always should. Been a long time coming, I hope all games include proper scaled sounds in future from the start not an afterthought

Its the kind of game where you'd have people using bonnet view ? My screen isnt big enough to go with cockpit view, ideally yes but Im fine skipping it usually
 
The screenshot gallery on the website is no worse than the doctored shots you get from all developers. But irrespective of that, pCARS is still a better looking game than most of the race sims that are available to play at the moment.
 
I don't drive the F1 car much on pCARS but i do have some theories about the complaints in this thread about it:

Regarding whoever said that they spun it stupidly quickly. On the latest update the main complaint was the lack of grip on corner exit. The main thing that this would cause is wheelspin on the exit of corners, and therefore spinning on corners if you dont correct for it quickly enough.

Also, i believe the Formula 1 car has the new Flash tread installed. Whether this is on the default compound i don't know but if you were using it then its not surprising that things weren't perfect because its only been around for a few weeks.

Another thing i remember is that, at least back in the BTM days, there was a separate tyre model for 30mph driving and below because the brush model just broke down at low speeds. if this is still the case then it could be that the grip is too low on the low speed tyre model, letting you do burnouts in 7th.
 
I'm quite surprised at the graphics. It looks like really good versions of well done models/textures/tracks of rFactor.
 
Looking at buying a wheel for this. What would you guys recommend? Don't really want to spend more than £100. Thanks.

Damn, that sucks. Ile have to wait till its released then which will probably be a long time. One thing I notice with a lot of sims is the graphics don't look to good.

They are probably one of the least important aspects of a sim racer. pCars does look damn good though, hopefully they'll get the handling done well by release and have the best of both worlds :p

I think iRacing looks pretty decent, the track side objects and trees could do with a make over though. Race 07 and the expansions are starting to show there age now, but it doesn't really detract from the game.

Iracing makes it feel like a job though having to keep your rating up etc good game but I doubt most people have the spare time it really needs and with all the microtransactions the game ends up costing more than it's worth unless you have that spare time I mentioned,
