Better feel from the throttle pedal at small inputs. This was really the main purpose of the new system; everything else is gravy. Gone is the time of the large 'deadzone' when you start to press the pedal; the engine starts producing positive torque very quickly now and you will have a much larger range for modulation.
Snappier throttle response at low rpm.
A car's peak power may vary a bit from track to track. This is because we now use ambient air pressure as part of the engine torque calculations, so things like elevation and weather will have an impact on engine performance.
Idle speeds fall out of the model naturally and will change slightly from setup and weather.
The clutch feels a lot better when pulling away from a standstill. Unexpected but really cool side effect. A lot of cars can realistically get rolling with careful modulation of the clutch and no throttle input whatsoever.
New Brake Mapping slider in the setup screen for all cars. This controls the level of engine braking and is a fairly abstract value. Think of it like a vacuum line connected to the throttle, so that it opens up more at high rpm to relieve some of the intake manifold vacuum (the major source of engine braking torque). All you really need to know is that 0=lots of engine braking and 10+=very little engine braking.
New Restrictor Size slider in setup screen for some cars. Fun stuff here. This changes the size of the restrictors/throttle bodies on the engine to control the amount of power produced.

tried a few things after updating then went on grid 2

cant be bothered to argue tbh.

how they can make handling worse every patch ill never know.

What car are you driving and whats wrong with it? Every car I've tried recently hasn't been that hard to drive, mainly the classic lotus and formula cars. Maybe you are just terrible and need arcade physics such as Grid 2?

murray man its late but ill give it ago

i set up my wheel update everytime hoping handling is sorted kinda knowing it will not be though :p

goes in reconfigures my wheel

so we ready to rock picks a f1 car on my test track of choice belgium .

start driving instantly noticeable the handling is poor to put it politely.

i even removed steering wheel and tried on xbox pad aswell.

they keep trying to do this and that with fancy tyres and handles just get the basics right first instead of adding crap on top of crap that dont work in first place.

if your handling isn't spot on why add other crap on top !

tried bmw car and it sounded like a lawn mower and cant remember who was on about gear change it makes like a prolonged grinding banging wtf ?

this is a great looking game tracks dont look bad but physics and handling some of the worst i have ever tried in a car game and it seems to get worse every patch. i am actually mystified now how it can get worse every patch.

loved to know who is testing this in house as you are destroying this game every patch you release.

arnor , show this to them and tell them to fix the handling. i could pm them but i think they'll just carry on listening to lackies who say yes boss its fine when its a complete mess handling wise.

After using the wheel settings that are stickied on the pCars forums it feels great for me, so no problems there. The F1 car is fine for me but I don't find it very fun. You'd be better driving cars that have actually been in development for a good while and are coming along well. Such as the Formula B and Asano X4. Although the Classic Lotus cars are pretty damn good as well.

What would be the point of passing on what you've just said?

Apart from it being difficult to read, because of a lack of punctuation, there's absolutely nothing constructive in anything you've written.

Just saying "the handling is poor to put it politely." isn't a lot to go on.

Perhaps you should take Jaynos up on his offer, sell him your account and go back to playing Grid and Dirt.

barmy but why though?

i could be very constructive and pass on my thoughts and you know what happened last time i did this ? i got my money refunded instantly

they dont want any hassle they just instantly take anything they cant deal with and say okay heres your money back ;)

the thing is with sorted handling this game is the best car games on many platforms for next few years ! that's why even though i hate the handling i have been sticking with it. i play many driving game what does it matter if its grid or dirt or asetto or whatever ?

that doesn't change the handling in cars does it?

this game has the best potential if they listen and stop messing with fancy tyres and grip settings and the like which dont work.

A bad worker always blames his tools. ;)

Every new build release that has a change that will effect a car's physics/behaviour needs to be treated as a new "test drive," you should not expect the same setup (default or custom) to give the same experience as the previous build.

The current build (489) is still released on the premise that we are driving cars on a "perfect day," rain is simply a graphical effect, the road is "rubbered in" etc.

It should also be noted that you should typically give most car/track combos at least 4 laps in a session before evaluating the general car behaviour and thinking about setup changes. I often find >0.5 seconds during a 5th lap, because by that time, the tyres have bedded in.

I think too many people are thinking of pCARS as a finished product, rather than taking it for what it is, a pre-alpha application where we are privileged to see the evolution of a sim racer from its "infant" development days.

it should also be noted that i have played this game since it nearly started im not a new comer. i also played this with various other people who have now all either sold there accounts or dont use them.

all for same reason bad handling.

I would get a refund, maybe if the game was bad on full release. It's still in development though so I really don't care, as long as they're working on improving it, then all is well.
