He wasn't demoted, he stepped down of his own accord. There's a thread in GD about it if you want to search for it.
K. Thanks.

Those lists are wrong.
The first one is out of date by several thousend years.
The second one is wrong also, as afaik, Sheva has scored more than Raul.

According to the commentators Sheva only overtook Raul last night.
Im not sure thats right.
Ive got a list from a UEFA article that i posted on my MSN blog ages ago and it reads like this:

1 Gerd Müller 61
2 Eusébio 54
3 Andriy Shevchenko 53
4 Raúl González 52
5 Alfredo Di Stéfano 49
6 Carlos Santillana 47
6 Ruud van Nistelrooij 47
6 Thierry Henry 47
9 Henrik Larsson 46
10 Jupp Heynckes 45

Now thats from November27th. I belive that since them that Inzaghi has scored enough to equal DiStefano, and considering Shevas now at the top of the scoring charts, that puts him on at least 62.

Its odd that the info isnt in clear form anywhere.

##EDIT##
I think the confusion is that there are two charts. One for overall European scoring, and one for the Champions League. With his recent goal putting him at the top of the CL chart as well as the normal European chart.

We're talking Euro Cup/Champs League

Another reason for all the confusion is that some people count goals in qualifying (remember Man Utd have only managed one top2 finish in the last 4 seasons, so Ruud gets loads of games against mickey mouse teams to fill his boots), whereas other lists probably only count goals in the proper champions league.
