Are the temp readings right ???

As i have notice that there seems to be a few people saying that the temp readings on G0 stepping cpu's are wrong...Plus core temp always seems to give out a much lower temp reading then TAT...

None of these programs currently give the correct temp info for these new go stepping cpu's. you should add 10c-15c on which should be closer to actual.

If it is,I still don't believe OC'uk have a right to demand extra money for it,this is what angers me,greedy people taking advantage.

It may only be a tenner but it's going to net them a huge wodge and imo wrongfully.

I don't mean to jump head first into the thread but why on earth would they not? You want a premium product you pay a premium price, it's as simple as that. The better something is the more we pay for it.

If i could afford one right now i'd be buying one myself and i wouldn't think twice about the extra tenner as it would be more than likely that extra tenner would be translated into more performance.

As far as I'm aware that only applies to the dual core versions as they report below ambient idle temps, the quad core I've got has idle temps that are much the same as my old quad core, just that load temps are lower.

Edit: Looking at the Tjunction values for dual cores they're listed as being 85C, I suspect this should be 100C like the quads.

of course they do, there a business & will charge what ever they want to like every other business out there ( etailer or otherwise ).

if i wanted a quad ( & i don't ) i wouldn't pay the extra, ide just wait for them to filter thru the channels as per normal until all quads on sale where G0 & then buy one. other folk would rather pay a bit extra & get one gaurunteed, as soon as they turn up. you pays your money & you takes your choice.

Oh well we're all entitled to the odd outburst. I still believe being charged a premium for an unproven stepping is wrong.
Why you worry about this so much ?

If your not happy with a place adding an extra charge for the G0 stepping then why you not just buy one from somewhere else

Hmm another etailor has announced it'll split G0 and guarantee steppings for no extra charge... would be nice if OCUK could do that too in light of this.

Does anyone have any updates to when its being released yet? Although at this rate I will bypass this and head straight for Yorkfield :p

Cheers :)

In a week or two the next batch should go out and they sohuld be G0 steppings. :)

Credit where credit is due OCUK were the first uk e-tailor to offer to split the batches for a small fee(a rarity tbh as most havn't done so before and its been a stepping lottery) and I could understand the principle behind the price increase as most want a g0. Its a case of price gauging - supply and demand etc BUT ocuk must be competetive or folk will vote with there feet (or wallets in this case).

I'd be surprised if OCUK don't drop the £10 excess for getting a g0 now considering a major competitor is willing to offer that service for no extra charge as soon as stock arrives. It will certainly be interesting to see OCUK's marketing strategy/response with this in mind ;).

Guys this is getting seriously close to OcUK bashing which will get this thread closed, not that it probably doesn't need to be close by now its gone past its sell by date.

I can't see it as OCUK bashing - not my post anyway. Its a simple fact that if someone is concerned enough to want a G0 stepping and whoever does is most likely reading up about them then they will also be searching other competitors to see who has them in stock and inevitably at what price. If anything its giving OCUK a gentle nudge in the right direction much the same as the gentle nudges Gibbo recieved regarding the G0 q6600 SLACR batch(of which he wasn't aware) in the first place.

Appologies if my post appeared to be ocuk bashing as this was most certainly not its intention.

Bythe time all the B3's are sold G0 will be common place and all this futile nonsense will be in vain :p

By the time G0 comes B3 batch from intel will be sold.

The next shipment direct from intel to UK is B3.

Thats what is being held at the warehouse.

Mid Aug will see G0 parts coming in.
