** Call of duty ghosts (MW4) **

1st mission: Follow this guy, and watch all the EXPLOSIONS!
2nd mission (guess you could call it that...): Look, we're in space, with guns! Guns in SPAAACE!

Yep, same old COD. Don't know what I was expecting, was hoping for something refreshing change of pace and design philosophy due to the step up to next gen and having more opportunity to experiment, but nope. I know I am too early into the game to make a real judgement, but I know what coming (here's a hint: dogs and EXPLOSIONS!), so thus I am not going to carry on my on-rails, predictable journey. Glad I didn't purchase this game. Also, what engine is it running on? Looks exactly like COD 4's engine, has it just got a new lick up paint?

The stuttering is definitely texture related.

With every single option maxed out at 1920x1200 with 2xTXAA the game uses over 2GB of GFX RAM on most maps.

It is also still loading the textures after the round has started, very similar to the issues with the original BLOPs game.

Use only 1 580. It dosen't like SLI
Thanks, seems I'm not the only one with this issue. such a badly optomised game.

Reading similar complaints on the COD forum, really disappointed in this game.

i payed £94 for this pile of utter crapola. im in contact with steam now to try and get a refund, this is unplayable and unacceptable *CASHCOW is a UNDERSTATEMENT*

COD IS DEAD.

P.s might buy it again after 20+ patches are released and fov slider is added and sound updated and hd textures added, and more ++++++ is added and more satisfaction is added and more work spent on the game is done....
im sure im forgetting something lol

Expensive, I got the same thing from amazon for £69.

I expect the issues to be resolved but from what I played it looks fine, not great but not as bad as some comments would suggest.

Really badly optimised, on high it looks like utter **** and on extra it keeps saying out of memory after 2 games (i got 8gb of ram) when battlefield rapes it in looks and i never get that problem, not to mention artifacts on some maps

First time I ever felt compelled to add a review to Metacritic but I felt it was my duty.

Not only is this the worst Call of Duty game of the series it has to be one of the worst games period.

It's quite clear that there's no ambition, drive or enthusiasm left in the Call of Duty series and it's clearly been milked dry as a cash making exercise before people simply give up and stop buying regurgitated rubbish.

I can't speak for console players but as a PC player since the early DOS games this is a shameful example of the utter contempt some game developers have for the platform that launched the Call of Duty franchise many years ago.

I could list all the faults but it's simply not fit for purpose. FPS artificially capped, FOV limited to a ridiculously tiny setting, poor performance on high end systems, sloppy map design, poor gameplay but they all pale into insignificance compared to the fact it's quite simply a really poor game. A game is something to be enjoyed, invoke excitement and something to leave you wanting more. This is anything but that.

I implore any prospective PC purchaser to walk away.

Mine has not arrived yet really tempting to send it back just watched TB's review and it really does look utter tripe. Would probably stick to blops2. Looks like the original.

Dont know if u guys know this ... but here are some tips for the graphics/stuttering....

Make sure you disable anything that uses an overlay in game like fraps for example...
Also in the graphic options dont have aspect ratio on automatic as that upscales the graphics from a lower res to achieve 60fps so make sure you take that off auto and set it to your monitors proper aspect ratio.
Make sure you dont use the auto presets for graphics too.. use custom and set them to extra.

I've done all of the above but still seem to be getting some sort of micro-stuttering issue. I only have one graphics card though. I even had to steal an extra 4GB of RAM from my HTPC (which now has no RAM) Just so I could bolt this damn game. I don't feel comfortable using the RAM hack when going online with Steam.

The stuttering is texture/shader related.

You need a GFX card with more than 2GB of video RAM to max the game at 1080p.

Plus the game is still loading textures well after the round starts. While testing last night I noticed that the round started and my video RAM was at around 1GB of usage when the rounds starts and it's still streaming in textures as you're trying to play.

At the minute the best solution is dropping all the settings relating to textures and detail down to normal.

 But even from the videos (pc) it's not as if it looks cutting edge, graphics wise, pretty surprising that you have to do that.

I may still get it for the single player, if it works properly in a few weeks, are there any good single player missions? They normally have a few good ones.
