Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare / Warzone (Battlenet ID's in OP)

I've been playing cod games for more than 15 years and there has been a certain shift in ability in these games. I'll admit that the general skill of players have gone up on average but it also makes me very experienced in what you can achieve in regards to controlling recoil with each gun and how you move about the maps in relation to other players such as choke points, map awareness and camping areas. It is very clear to me when I can see anti recoil and wall hacks and someone being assisted from controller based aim assist.
Some are very good at hiding it and will often switch between using them and not using them, but one thing you can guarantee is when things get heated up and a hacker comes across a skilled player they always relay on the added awareness of hacks and you can see when they are using them.

It's a very serious issue in a lot of multiplayer games that seemingly half of the players out there are not even aware of. COD is the worst for it and unless money, effort and a dedicated team are used to combat it then the "level" playing field that we all know and love about our competitive online games will be a thing of the past.

The latest offering from the "hacker community" is the ability to disable Ricochet. This is a massive issue as the average gamer can install this software, disable Ricochet and then use hacks without the worry of being banned.

Do yourself a favour and play some plunder and have a really good look at how some people play that mode. That's the place where the hackers level up guns to use in warzone and they are easier to identify.

My experience doesn't stop at COD either. I am a decent at Halo and CS Source player as well as other FPS games for many years now.

Its a really big problem and has to be dealt with before it's too late and considered normal.

As for people that you know using them..... I've known several and all of them started as honest players but all agree that it's just too easy now to ignore it and can still have fun using them as there are so many to choose from.

if you are playing for 15 plus years like me you are probably old in a gamer sense, kids can move super fast these days and some are exposed to gaming mechanics very early on, damn my 9 year old on fornight is mental!

This is tried and tested and in my experience it doesn't make up for it. Im more than aware of being an "old" gamer at the ripe old age of 40 but again the "being slower than the kids" doesn't stand up.

If anything we can make it up with experience and know when to go and when not to.

There are some incredibly good gamers out there, a lot of them young but we are not quite over the hill yet.

My son of nine is also very good at fortnite player and wins many times in a day on his gaming PC. I will say that saying "let's goooooo" every "elimination" is rather grating so I end up shutting his door :D

Likewise, I've been playing COD games since COD2 on the 360. I'm 32 now, I was a lot better at COD games when I was 21 or 22. That Modern Warfare 3 / Black Ops 2 phase was very much when I was a lot better at games in general and I also had a hell of a lot more free time to play games!

I think you need to consider that in addition to the average skill level increasing, it's also the introduction of stricter SBMM that has had a huge impact on the players you come up against.

I'd be really interested to know your stats from both Warzone and MW multiplayer - not to nit-pick but to get an idea of what lobbies you're in to sort of see what players you're up against.

I have almost 200 wins on Warzone, over a 2KD and just under a 20% win rate. This is all regular BR / primarily Verdansk as I didn't really enjoy Caldera outside of the occasional game with friends. I don't play Rebirth, I've never bothered with Plunder, I was just interested in the actual BR element.

Yes, we ran into people cheating but it was not nearly as mental or as regular as you'd be led to believe. I'm not saying that cheating doesn't occur, I just really think that everyone is so so quick now to just rush to that being the reason why they were outshot or why they got killed in a situation.

I don't think SBMM helps the whole situation, likewise the transition to seeing a high level in game now and the immediate thought is 'this loser must play 1000 hours a week' vs. back in the COD4 days and seeing that gold cross 10th prestige icon and thinking 'oh boy this person is going to be really decent'.

I agree with all that. I'm 1.1kdr on both multiplayer and Warzone. That being said, I'm not so sure that how good I am personally has much to do with being able to pick out some anti recoil or auto headshot aimbot kills happening.

You just know when a death doesn't feel right. a lot of the time it's because the kid is a super sweat or you've had some netcode/lag problem, or even just been unlucky, but some of the time you notice some completely obvious tracking or bump-ups to the head repeatedly in an unusual bullet pattern or stupid hit accuracy from 200m away from an AR that is only known for its power and not low recoil.

It's pretty obvious a lot of the time. I'm a pretty logical person and always look at things objectively and most certainly not shouting out "HACKER" every time I die or I'm having a bad run of games.

your words are marked
Marked too. I'll just got back to playing Unreal Touranment against AI on auto adjust skill if thats the case.

I actually think a new game will be developed at some point where it's based around purely no cheating with white listing and specs to monitor people as and when needed.
There will be a huge player base that dont like the cheaters and something will be done to stop them... eventually.

Maybe it will be created by white hat hackers who go out of their way to hack the hackers and not just ban but hack their computer if they are caught and delete their account and data. I would sign up for that!

Similar to the way call center scammers get scammed by someone acting as an old grandma, get their machines hacked and data deleted. Love those videos.
If only someone could do this to the game hackers who have little knowledge of hacking other than purchasing devices and hacks from a website for Warzone / whatever game. Imagine their faces as someone took control of their computer when they turned on a supposed hack/cheat, but really it was an anti hacking cheat which allowed people onto their computer... then someone deleted the game and all their files :D Include all email & social media content too, why not.

A Warzone 2 'anti-hack, hack' would be certainly be beautiful. If it was essentially a virus that layed dorment until Warzone 2 was realeased, then deleted a chunk of random files from the game directory along with a bunch of other random files from random directories on different HDDs.

I'd chip in for a white hat hacker to create that and put it on a website for people to buy. Im sure a lot of people would @Neil79 ?? :D

devs only see $ signs and don't want to ban people

So what if devs make their money off anti hackers instead of hackers? Its still $, probably more
It would cost them too much money to bother with real anti cheat or actual people checking anything.

Bring back the ability for people to host their own servers or accept hackers

This was a hard read and very confusing with all the hacking and anti hacking going on but I got it.

It's a novel idea but I certainly could work in regards to a game that promotes itself on anti hacking. Not sure the deletion of other files but the game directory is a good thing mind...

The rise of the whole hacker hunter community posting all over Youtube and TikTok has got people calling hacker far too often these days. Yes there are people cheating but this is so rare with Ricochet in 2022. The fact that some people think the big streamers cheat is honestly bonkers

Has anyone started playing the campaign yet for MW2? It's visually incredible and the cut scenes / cinematics feel like a film.

I was tempted to buy it yesterday for the campaign early access but didnt. I really done enjoy the linear campaign gameplay, much prefer the 'get to x destination however you want' style (thinking more farcry and crysis)
I'll probably just wait until the multiplayer is out and buy then

Rare? You do know you can turn off Ricochet now with the latest anti-cheats

Agreed.

It feels like the people who complain the most just can't handle the fact that they are being beaten so badly at times. Back in the Soldier of Fortune 2 days, I was pretty good, won the odd Clanbase tournament etc. and would be constantly accused of hacking. The simple truth is I was just very good at the game. I devoted enormous amount of time to improving my movement, awareness, anticipation etc. which to some people would appear like cheating.
Fast forward 20 years and sadly these skills have deserted me and definitely haven't made their way into my Warzone gameplay   . I don't cry about this though because whilst I realize there are cheaters out there, they are few and far between. I know that 999 times out of a 1000 I have been killed because they are either better, got lucky, or I did something stupid.
Say you were a semi decent golfer and you, by chance, ended up in a round against Rory McIlroy, once he's absolutely wiped the floor with you would you then scream cheat? Or just accept that they have practiced way more, have a natural ability and, well, you're just not as good as you think you might be.

Really enjoyed the campaign for MW2, a fair bit longer than other recent CoD campaigns, or I might just be imagining that.
