Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare / Warzone (Battlenet ID's in OP)

I haven't played a COD game for about 10 years, but going to pick up MW2.

What are peoples thoughts on Xbox Series X v PC (6700 GPU and 5600x CPU). I can't decide which would be the best experience.
Playing with a controller on both? And at what resolution?

I’d say PC is always the way to go with the extra graphical options and tweaking it to your liking - but these new consoles are great so you wouldn’t be going wrong picking it up on Series X.

Can you turn crossplay off on Xbox for multiplayer? If so, might be worth considering that if cheating/hacking becomes prevalent.

I usually grab the game on PC and then pick it up on PS5 when it first goes on sale (even if slightly reduced) so I have options on both!

Will hopefully be at 4K as that’s native screen res, and only have 60hz monitor so frame rates should be ok on PC. Likely with controller on both.

I'll probably do Bnet again seeing as the last few CoDs I've bought were all on there.

About to get my last obsidian gun before the release of MW2. MW19 has been a blast

I went battlenet also due to cod points being linked to there. They don't transfer to steam apparently. That and keep the latest cods on them together.

I notice you dont get the 'FJX Cinder Weapon Vault' in the standard edition, only the Vault edition.

Does this mean you cannot modify weapons like in MW2019 'Gunsmith' if I dont buy the vault edition for £25 more??? Or is the FJX Cinder Weapon Vault something different to Gunsmith

The vault weapons are a way for the weapon skin to stay applied no matter how you tweak the gun AFAIK. In MW2019 if you used a gun with a skin and changed the stock it might wipe half the skin out for example. You can still use the gunsmith as normal and modify weapons. The Cinder just means you would have all the M4 platform unlocks right from the start without having to level up and unlock stuff for that gun.

It seems that hackers can now use a hack to completely disable the COD Activision anticheat software Ricochet.

You can't write this stuff. MW2/Warzone 2.0 is dead in the water before it's even started :D

So how it worked in Black ops 4, before they broke it in MW2019?? Can't make it up :D

Yep and what with the corruption going on in Activision too, it really ruins the game!

I love playing plunder or the new rebirth mode but you don't know who's a damn good player or a cheater

I think a good clue is their general movement, how fast they react and where they look.

Yesterday I was killed by someone and spectating them I could see h/she was just a really good player. Constantly checking corners and when under fire ducking and diving, prone changing directions really fast briefly 'camping' in certain situations. Even when downed did not res until another player had disappeared so they didnt hear the res noise. I do this a bit but it takes many hours to learn maps.

Another player I could see he looked through part of a wall and tracked me almost exactly. Their movement wasnt great but they seemed to know exactly where I was. Spectating they didnt have a HR scanner, UAV or snapshots. I expected some form of wallhack because he zoomed in on areas where they could see no-one but then a player would appear from a nearby window or wall! It's these players that you can usually get up close to and move around quickly even if they can see through a wall and win a 1 on 1. Movement also takes years of practice to be really quick - something hackers can luckily not buy / use as a cheat :)

I guess the great players can also cheat which is where its harder to tell. I expect most very good players wont cheat

I love meeting with a couple of mates on a Friday night and playing warzone looking for that win but almost every game there is a pretty obvious hacker.

It spoils the experience every time

The thing is, it's incredibly easy to cheat. Just plug in a Cronus and download the relevant anti recoil scripts. It doesn't have to be blatant wall hacking for people to hack in this game

Ye, good point. I guess the only downside is that if you cheat, you know you're cheating! I'm 100% sure i've beaten cheaters in 1 to 1s, they must think "wow, how bad am i that i cheat and still lose" :D
Then there's the (probably high percentage) of cheaters vs cheaters. The best cheater wins??

Mark my words, this is exactly what will become the norm in a couple of years. Hacks and alternative hardware/software will be so normalised and readily available that everyone will have something. It will all be down to who has the best hacks

Do you really think this? I don't know a single person who cheats or uses hacks. Sure, I've come across it in games and that awful period towards the end of Verdansk was really rubbish but it's definitely not as widespread as people think.

I honestly think people now just can't handle others being significantly better than them at games. Combine that feeling with killcams being pretty inaccurate and controller aim assist being stronger than ever in COD games and people are just throwing accusations around.

I've been playing cod games for more than 15 years and there has been a certain shift in ability in these games. I'll admit that the general skill of players have gone up on average but it also makes me very experienced in what you can achieve in regards to controlling recoil with each gun and how you move about the maps in relation to other players such as choke points, map awareness and camping areas. It is very clear to me when I can see anti recoil and wall hacks and someone being assisted from controller based aim assist.
Some are very good at hiding it and will often switch between using them and not using them, but one thing you can guarantee is when things get heated up and a hacker comes across a skilled player they always relay on the added awareness of hacks and you can see when they are using them.

It's a very serious issue in a lot of multiplayer games that seemingly half of the players out there are not even aware of. COD is the worst for it and unless money, effort and a dedicated team are used to combat it then the "level" playing field that we all know and love about our competitive online games will be a thing of the past.

The latest offering from the "hacker community" is the ability to disable Ricochet. This is a massive issue as the average gamer can install this software, disable Ricochet and then use hacks without the worry of being banned.

Do yourself a favour and play some plunder and have a really good look at how some people play that mode. That's the place where the hackers level up guns to use in warzone and they are easier to identify.

My experience doesn't stop at COD either. I am a decent at Halo and CS Source player as well as other FPS games for many years now.

Its a really big problem and has to be dealt with before it's too late and considered normal.

As for people that you know using them..... I've known several and all of them started as honest players but all agree that it's just too easy now to ignore it and can still have fun using them as there are so many to choose from.
