Yes another camping thread from me.

Will be going twice this year and want to be comfortable when I go!

Any recommendations for kit? When I go down to Newquay it will be by train so will be limited to what I can carry.

Was looking at a camp bed but that might be a bit much.
Need a comfy sleeping bag, if not a camp bed, either a blow up bed or a good mat.
Decent cooking utensils, chair(s) to sit on and so forth.
A good back pack will also be vital I suppose.

I have a wind-up lantern I got for £25 from argos. Works a treat.

Charge it from the mains before you go and it lasts like 8+ hours before you need another charge or wind-up.

chopped onions in a bag/tub.

makes things sooo much better to be able to have onions on burgers/hotdogs etc :p

Since you've said that you're going by train, Avoid a camp bed and just take an airbed, Saves a lot of space and weight.

Other than I cant really offer any other advice, Im doing the festival scene this year so its a bit different to 'normal' camping.

also one or two of these, dirt cheap and absolutely mazing in the amount of heat they put out for small size and the gas doesn't take up much space.

best things ever.

and only £9 atm.

they come with their own compact hard carry case too.

That little gas stove looks great, was looking at one of them other day in a mag. £9 is a steal!

Thanks for that link the_shadow some of that stuff looks handy, the mattresses will make a good nights sleep!

I've had my therm-a-rest for 8 years now.
it has lived still like new it has saved me from getting a bad back many a time
light/good price get one

These are a far 2nd best to Exped Downmats or Synmats now :) The only downside compared to Thermarests is price.

Sleeping bag - if it's for summer just go for any 1-2 season bag, if you can stretch to a bit more then down is a good choice as long as you can keep it dry as they're warmer for less weight and bulk than synthetic.

Just get any generic camping utensils, if you only use them a few times a year then there's not much point sinking too much into them. Don't know about chairs as I don't use them. Stove, don't need any flash multifuel one, just get any cheap gas one, ones where you don't need to screw the canister into the bottom of the burner are best as they are less top heavy and more stable.

If you're not hiking and just carrying it to and from the train station to camp site then just get any pack that is reasonable quality and big enough.

wet wipes.

Your method of having a wash and great for wiping your backside when you've been to the loo.

weight for one thing
It inflates or deflates in a minute packs small
i have gone through 2 double airbeds nice/comfi but i overinflated them damaged on the inside so i can't patch them :(got one more spare but just for in the house guestbed
Have a look here for quality http://www.cotswoldoutdoor.com/

In what ways are the thermarest/ downmats better than an airbed? I've not heard of them and would be very interested to know.
Weight, insulation and comfort. Airbeds are significantly heavier. They have no insulation (foam/down/fibres) and convection inside them draws heat away, the insulation inside camping mats traps the air and keeps it from moving. It's subjective but I always feel balanced on top of airbeds where on my camping mats I feel more comfortable.

Does anyone who has one of these know how long it lasts?:)

Tent, warm sleeping bag, blow up bed, pump, little fold up gas stove like posted above, saucepans, mug, bottle of water, cutlery, paper plates, lantern of some description.

Fold up chair and table is also handy if you can carry it.

Quite a long time and the gas is cheap. Take two for the weekend but you probably won't need both of them.
