Can anyone beat my spec? I saved for nearly 2 years

I get where ur coming from Kel - OP is free to ignore me, but I think it would be irresponsible not to point out that a cracking rig could be had for considerably less cash.

I completley agree with you on that point, you start to stray into the realms of diminishing returns at that price point.

As it is for gaming, what i think OP should do is drop the 590, the 2600k and the mega PSU for a 580, 2500k and an 850PSU shaving about £500 off his price that will murder any game especially his flight sim. Then when the next gen of GPUs are out sell his 580 and use the rest of the money (£650 / £700) to buy whatever new monster comes out on the new process.

Stagger the upgrade nicely

I don't get it. The guy comes in asking for advice yet somehow its turned into more or less dissing his choices and making it seem as if hes showing off?
Not everyone knows 1200w is overkill for example and since hes saved two years maybe hes just trying to get the best at the moment for the next two yrs down the line? My only beef really is the lack of bigger storage other than the SSD and the 1200w psu which is not needed and would not be effeciently used at that wattage level.

Thanks man, dont worry bout it, he's obviously a little boy who's jealous, maybe your right about the PSU but hey who care's, its not harming my rig. And last week when i had a few days off, i flew from Manchester to LAX and it was amazing. This Saturday im gonna do Heathrow to Ibiza, (with UK200 scenery) B..E..A..Utiful

Beat it? Yes. People have replied lot's, especially with replies like "SLI isn't used by FSX" etc.. so they beat you by saving a lot of money. Also, inappropriate ram for the chip, and for FSX in particular.. get the 2500k as mentioned and go high clock rate rather than having HT.

(All the above just from gleaning it from other members posts, plus lots more).

I would take advice from those that actually know about FSX, and not those that think a certain card or chip is the best.

Yes, to beat your spec go to your local airfield and get a trial lesson in a Cessna 152. Much more fun than Flight Sim! (I am a commercial pilot and love flying but I hate flight simming on a PC)

ah the good old 152! that's what i did my ppl in.

Flyingpig, who do you work for and where did you do your training? just finished my atpl written exams (thank you bristol) and im off to cali to hours build on the 3rd.

still a long way to go for me

Kali81, I also did my PPL in a 152. Currently flying a light twin around the UK and Northern Ireland doing freelance air ambulance work. Trained in Oxford, but also did some hour building in Florida and California (great fun over there). Feel free to PM me, always good to network in aviation... (I'm new here on OC, not sure if the forum actually allows this) Good luck with the training, the hard part is still to come!

I thought this was going to be an SR-2 tri-sli build.

Disappoint.

What he said.....for a 2 year savings tbh it seems kind of an overkill on few parts and some feels as if they were not thought about at all and just picked at random to have as much as possible.....by giving it a bit more thought for the same price you could have gotten quite a better rig...though thats just my oppinion.

The hooker will be fast, the laptop will be slow and he will be stoned out of his head so he wont remember anything, right.

Ahhhhh, you can put your ashtray and a can of tennents super on a hookers back without causing any harm if you knock them over. Plus, hookers don't have any teeth so..... I'll just leave it here shall I.

OK i can confirm that i did not go with the 590, as it was for FSX i decided i did not need a high end GPU. As FSX guzzles as much CPU power as you can throw at it. I hwent for the Evga Superclocked 560 ti, its the memory clock speed! its right up there, running @ 4.2ghz which is what i required, but it runs if not matches the 580
