Hi, im new, as you can tell, im an avid hardcore gamer for a start...

i have a modest setup

AMD X2 6000+ @ Stock...
4Gb Geil Black Dragon @ Stock
500Gb HDD + 1.5Tb HDD
2 Scythe fans
2 More fans
Antec 900 (sexi case XD)
8800GT

Right..i was wondering what to get..

9800GTX+ (heard good tings)
or
GTX 260 (Zotac or BFG)

I have £250 only...no more :(

People more qualified than me can answer you better. But if it was my choice, i would go for the 260. Wait a couple of days though, and you may pick up a 280 when the new cards are released that is in your price range. Overclockers had a great deal on the 280's a day or two ago but are sold out now i think?

The 9800GTX is only a rebranded 8800GTX as I recall and thus isn't massively faster than your GT, certainly not £250 worth. The GTX260 would be a bit of a boost if you play at really high resolutions but, frankly, if you've only got a 19" or 22" widescreen monitor I doubt you'll get any really noticeable performance leap except in benchmarks. If I were you I'd grit my teeth for 6 months, see what the new Phenoms mature into and buy that and a GTX260 (which'll be about £125 by then) then you'll get a boost in those games that utilise 4 cores effectively too.

Agree with the above, the 260-216 is a fair bit faster than the 9800 GTX, as thats only an old 8800 GTS 512mb with a new name, so its not much faster than your 8800 GT, and the 260 will also handle your res with ease. :)

Only difference between the BFG and Zotac is the warranty length (Zotac is 2 years, BFG is 10), and the BFG is clocked higher (if you get the maxcore), also the accessories you get, (i.e cables, software) may differ.

Id get the BFG as its clocked higher than the other 2, and also has a good 10 year warranty, plus they're an excellent brand with first class support. :)
