Can You Help?

and the card would run fine on the mobo, being an old board and that, also is it an AM2+ or just AM2 board?

If this is your motherboard then it supports both AM2 and AM2+ CPUs. It will work perfectly well with any PCIe graphics card. As has been said by others if you have the chance to get the GTX280 within your budget then you should get it over the 260 but either card will be excellent at that resolution.

Edit: Ahh Loadsa got there first.

if the POV is still in stock tommorow, ill get it, if not, its the BFG GTX 260, and do either have any heat issues or not?

and will i need anything extra for the 280, it need an 8 and 6 pin power, unsure if my PSU has them :S

EDIT: just found out it does
- PCI-E 6 pin, PCI-E 8 pin, SATA, Molex with EZ-Grip, floppy, P8 & P4 connectors .

the pov is in stock just now but remember you do not qualify for free delivery so add another tenner on to it or whatever it is!!! so it will be closer to £240...

well i know its in stock now, but cannot put £70 in bank untill tommorow, and i only have £210 in there now :(

do the 280's or 260's have any cooling issues?

No not at all, high load should see temps around 70 to 80 degree mark, auto fan speed or simply download rivatuner and select you own fan speed.

Either one (260/280) will suffice at the res your play at and both clock very well with very little between them both - performance wise, obviously the 280 will always score higher than the 260 but that said very little seperates them, especially the newer 216 cores cards.

the problem is there is too much choice.... on tuesday i received the bfg gtx260 oc from another competitor £193 delivered which is the 192 version but not much difference from the 216 maxcore and then all nvidia products got slashed and i was in two minds to send it back. but i stood by my original choice and it is a great card. like i said there is to much choice out there at the moment.

only you know! the bfg is the oc version so it will be faster..but the price does not do it justice when you can pick up the 280 cheaper.. good bundle with the value!

i am, for under £200 i get another Far Cry2, and Mirrors Edge (Got FC2 Collecters Edtion for Pc, and Me for 360), and a 2Gb usb stick, also i can afford another HDD, i need one, these 2 are full....thats 2Tb of stuff....

looking at your setup!! if you got the 280 you would have to oc that processor anyway or it will bottleneck your system! so if you dont want to go down that road forget about all the 280 recommendations.. but the 260 i am not sure on that one though maybe somebody else can verify.
