But if the ground was slopped, there fore going up hill, it would make no difference.

Of course it would. There would be no slope in the water, you'd simply be swimming upwards, which everyone who has swum underwater has done.

probably nto then as you would just be pushed back by the water, same as if it was flat and had a strong current.

I remember reading something in a newspaper about some building or something. They said it was as tall as an Olympic swimming pool on end. Yeah, brilliant, because we're all so used to seeing swimming pools standing on end.

The pool could be on a slope, and the water going downhill could be pumped back to the top.

edit: I know this is totally LOLworthy, but I'm just looking for some answers from everyone.
Your pump would need to have a huuuugggggeeeeee capacity to be able to maintain a slope of water.

Its impossible, if the pool is on an uphill gradient, then you'd just have a deep pool at one end, and swimming up a waterfall? we arent salmon.

So basically you're asking if it's possible to swim up a waterfall.

Yes it is physically possible, some animals do it. Can't imagine it being very easy for a human at anything but a very tiny incline though.
