Can you transport a washing machine in a car?

Absolutely.
We sell 1000's from our on site shop and every one goes into somebody's boot.
There should be bolts in the back holding the drum to stop any movement.
If those bolts aren't in place then don't move it.

Guru why quote

And But not make any comment yourself?

I'm just lazy.

The first bit I was echoing what he said. I too have moved many a washing machine in my car and none have come to any harm.

The second but I was quoting the weight of a washing machine from a site (competitor) that also sells washing machines as someone has asked how much they weigh.

;)

Thanks all. It's my GF's washing machine and I'm going to have it at my place. She's only had it 5 months and still has the bolts that were mentioned so I can secure the drum.

I just wasn't sure if there was anything I needed to watch for. The smelly water is a good point!!

Dont do what i did and turn the washing machine on with the packing bolts left in though, it took 2 of use to hold it down as it bucking broncod all over the kitchen.

Go easy over the bumps, the drum within the machine can get buckled if you start cahooning over speed bumps.

A number of washing machines come with a travel-bar which secures the drum in a fixed position to prevent this. IIRC it was only "posh" ones that did this, though.

Ffs I just saw the date of the original posts. Yes they fit in some cars, but defining normal (are we talking hatchback?) is going to need more detail.

I have not read all the replies but you want to be careful.

washing machines normally have 3 huge bolts to stop the drum bouncing around while in transit otherwise you could damage it.

wtf, just realised the date of these posts! 2007..........

If its a new and still packaged washing machine it should be fine
