Canadian Grand Prix 2010, Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Montreal - Race 8/19

One of the best BBC forums this year. Good fun and more than a little sillyness. We need more of that kayak race to be shown... and more kayak races too. What other tracks have lakes in them?

button was lucky not to get taken out at the start by massa.

Im glad someone noticed that - think he did fantastically today after nearly not even getting out of hte first corner because of Massa /Luizzi

Jenson and Lewis are so evenly matched Im sure it will depend on type of track it is to who comes out on top at each race

Only 3 points different nearly 1/2 way through the season, one race retirement one way or the other will make more of a difference with the championship result compared to individual race results also Jenson not having his own race engineer on the pit wall wont have helped.

Not surprising some people around here still want to belittle anything JB does even after a really decent race performance and result

Well done also to Button who caught Alonso out.

The story of Alonso's race?

Caught out behind Buemi - overtaken by Hamilton
Caught out behind a Lotus - fails to overtake Hamilton in the pit stops
Caught out behind Chandhok - overtaken by Button

Not to say he didn't drive well today (in a reportedly slower car, but the track certainly played to its' strengths), but with a bit more luck/racecraft, he had a good chance to win.

Brake testing? Care to offer a bit more explanation, I have an idea what you mean but clarification would be nice.

Stabbing the brakes suddenly out of place making someone behind having to brake suddenly, swerve to avoid or crash...

One of the most dangerous things you can do around a track.

Awesome, Lewis/Jenson where stunning..

I was impressed with Alonso, he had a good race, and seemed to manage his tyres well, but I was more then happy to see Jenson pounce on him with the back markers playing their part!!

I was also surprised that Lewis managed his tyres quite well, and when he may have been expected to have been reeled in by Jenson at the end, he popped in a fastest lap to pretty much seal the deal.

I just googled it, I thought you mean't seeing who dared brake latest into a corner, which seemed like normal racing stuff.

I can see why brake testing would be dangerous, I'd imagine it's very easy to spot.

Looking at the two MS incidents on the forum, I think Brundle/Jordan are going over the top really:

MS Vs Kubica, pushing him onto the grass in the kink was very naughty but at the actual corner he was very close to, if not actually, ahead of Kubica, who then braked very late and there was contact. Racing incident more than over-aggressiveness really imo.

MS Vs Massa, After seeing about a million replays it doesn't actually look much like it's a 'second move', definately not a brake test. To me, he was on the inside with Massa right behind (notably not on the other side of the track trying to overtake), he then moved to the left to make the corner at roughly the same time that Massa made the move to the left as well (which was probably just to follow through the corner). He then had to brake early due to the knackered tyres and massa ran out of room, again surely a pure racing incident...

how come kubica almost killing himself at the chicane when he pitted never got mentioned.

if it were msc people would have been outraged especially brundle

Agree with both - Kubica was one bit naughty but they both cut the corner so nothing wrong in the end. Massa one was fine I thought.. drifted back onto the racing line to brake as they couldn't exactly go side by side through the chicane so Massa should have held off and tried to beat him on exit speed.

So De La Rosa had a new engine in the car... Ferrari seem to have fixed their reliability... Shame about the Sauber cars are still chewing engines.
