Canadian Grand Prix 2013, Montréal - Race 7/19

Think we'll see Vettel ride off into the sunset and everyone else stuck behind a Hamilton/Bottas train?

A shame Hamilton Didn't get pole but he's won the 'never beaten at quali by a teammate in Canada' competition. :)

Honestly the WIlliams are so far back lately I can't remember, what is that car like off the grid, fast/slow/terrible/normal?

Not completely convinced Hamilton was going to nab pole before the very slight lock into the final chicane, Vettel was up on his previous time aswell until the final sector looked like it would be pretty close though. Wouldn't mind seeing some replays of Button coming in for the final few corners, around the hairpin was it, or maybe the corner before he was right behind the guy infront, coming over the line there was a massive gap ahead of him, had he held up by someone then got past them, or backed off to make a gap and went too far? Either way pretty silly, the red flag rules need looking at though, sticking on 30 seconds extra, or realistically for me, sticking in an extra out laps worth of time + 30 seconds is only fair, because anyone on the track loses the time on an extra outlap, and even then those who get backed up by the guys infront making space its just daft. Someone HAS to be last in that queue and its simply not fair IMHO and no reason they can't add on a couple minutes....

Probably worth mentioning that once again the gap when Hamilton out qualifys Rosberg is far bigger than the gaps when its been the other way around, from the last race I think I said it was 0.4seconds was the biggest gap for Rosberg and the smallest for Hamilton, but the other times Rosberg has beaten Hamilton its been by 0.1/0.2 seconds, very very close. Also laughable in practice that Herbert was banging on about Merc being the "best" car now, not the fastest in quali, but the best overall car.... because of one win in Monaco where the Merc's led everyone in a 2 hour conga line? Merc is the fastest car outright over one lap, almost certainly(its possible not and that the other cars set up purely for one lap might be faster), but over a race distance its at best fourth fastest and it hasn't even been close to good enough on race day. Best car... lol.. Its WAY improved on last year both race and qualifying, but its still not a patch on the race pace of Ferrari, RBR or Lotus.

Well done bottas

Looks like wheels are coming off for lotus with the cooler races. No doubt kimi will be going elsewhere at season end

Is it looking like Mercedes will be giving red bull a run for the title? I guess we are yet to see where they are with the tyres.

Massa was dire. RG, well best race for that performance!

Oh, retard moment not getting button out earlier for that session after the red

Got a bad feeling for this race for lotus

Edt. Think the red flag rules are fine as they are
I'd always choose bbc hd over sky (go)

I watched the BBC coverage for P3 and qually for a change and yep.. EJ is still just as bad as before.

Yeah, I watched the BBC and was very disappointed , seemed childish in places.

Too much focus on tyregate and Grojean crashing,

How do you think lewis will do tomorrow if there is no rain. I can't see them having fixed their tyre wear issue just like that tbh.

Amazing for bottas. Great lap.

Pleased for ham. He had to go for it in that last chicane. Vettel lost 0.6 on the previous lap so it was all or nothing as he was only 0.2 up.
Yep we finally got to see what he can do. I hope he has a decent car in the next season or two. He is a bit like what Rosberg was a few years ago.

Where is button the 'master of changing conditions'.

Missed out on the final run, didn't you see the last 2 min dash? :)

What's the forecast for tomorrow?

If its the same as today it will be good for Mercedes.
Mixed reports - some say dry as predicted for sometime, others say like it is today. We'll have to wait and see.

I had to watch the bbc coverage because I wasn't at home. It was painful. None of them can 'present' a tv show.

Yep.

Every qualifying sessions should have a 1 lap +20 seconds dash at the end :)

Some good potential in the grid, providing Vettel doesn't scarper off.

Wow. Stewards are going to be busy.

Raikkonen, Vergne, Ricciardo, Perez and Maldonado have been summoned to the stewards over the pit exit antics after the red flag in Q2.

What antics?

Heavy rain forecast for 2pm tomorrow, according to the bbc weather site.

So alonso will be 3rd going into the first corner, interesting to see where he can go from there. It's just not going his way to pull points back on Vettel even though they have a great car.

Not leaving the pit lane in order.

There isn't a rule about that.

All I can think is that the second white line that defines the inner edge of the pit exit (the one to the left of the drivers as they leave the pits) has the same rules as the one on the right, I.e. crossing it is against the rules.

We shall see. I suppose it's the norm that the FIA are stepping in spoiling all the fun after we have finally had an exciting qualifying.

Maybe a slapped wrist for not lining up, but they should have put cones out or something if they wanted it narrow?

Raikkonen and Ricciardo given 2 place grid drops.

For not starting from the fast lane of the pits.

This decision brought to you by the FIA stewards, the creators of new punishments for things that have never been punished before in history.
