Canadian Grand Prix 2013, Montréal - Race 7/19

God damned ridiculous, not least because they were doing that in practice as well, in P3 they did it all to get out quicker, and I can't be sure for Ricardio, but I was fairly sure that Kimi was simply second in the line anyway, so makes no damn difference.

Again this all comes about because they can't have sensible rules like, adding on time equal to an average outlap after a redflag, its utterly stupid they don't do that. Had there been no red flag, Button would have had two more flying laps, as it is, he got none, when adding on 1:50 or so would have put everyone back where they were pre-red flag, with the chance to get two flying laps in.

Yet Nico reversing into oncoming cars gets no mention? bizarre.

It didnt? one of the reasons i came to this thread to ask what penalty he had got for that. he came so close to reversing straight into the car behind him (i forget which one it was though)

A lot of the front running teams have used up loads of intermediate tyres. If the conditions are the same as today for the race what are they going to do? They have effectively done half a race distance at quali pace during qualifying and probably more than that during practice so all of their tyres cant have much life left. The wet tyres will overheat massively within a few laps and slicks wont be an option so could we see soe teams retyring because they have run out of tyres?

They've only lost a place each. Kimi's penalty was applied first, dropping him behind Ricciardo and Hulkenburg, then Daniel's was applied, dropping him behind Hulkenberg and Raikkonen, so really they've just been shuffled back a place.

For all we know it was discussed at length in the driver's briefing.

They won't even be disadvantaged by dropping behind a driver with a free tyre choice (which Nico would still have had) as they all qualified on inters and they can all choose whichever tyres they want to start on.

The tyres will have plenty of rubber left on them, so the only issue is how much bite is left on the tread. If the rubber itself will last, they might be able to use them as you could the old Bridgestone intermediates - run them until they're essentially a slick. They seemed to be holding up well on what was at times a very dry track yesterday.

They've got plenty of full wets if the conditions are as they were towards the end of qualifying, on the edge between inters and wets.

I don't know if you can still condition tyres after they've been run the pit lane - cleaning out the grooves and sharpening up the tread edges - I know you could a decade or so ago.

Anyway, they won't be retiring due to a lack of tyres - the worst case is running on tyres not ideal for the conditions, and as long as they're not running slicks on a wet track they'll be able to keep going. Some teams out of the points may retire towards end of the race so they can get a free gearbox change though, as normal.

All that said, the general consensus last night was that the day will start off wet but by the time of the race start it will be dry.

Retarded.

We have seen people line up side by side loads. There was a red flag in a sessions earlier this year where the same happened.

What a joke. I hope Kimi is bluntly vocal about it.

Ted's very affable, sometimes funny, but ultimately doesn't do a lot beyond pointing at stuff and being friendly to people. They could do so much more, he's got a production team and has been doing this for years, rather than pointing at brake ducts, why not go film them, then show us a comparison between brake ducts, like "this is how Merc had their brake ducts three years ago, two years ago, last year, etc, etc".

He never really seems to get any depth in the technical stuff at all, he was banging on about Merc's brake ducts and talking about how great it was if they could get enough cooling with tiny vents.... without even once thinking and saying... maybe them having the least apparent cooling around the brake/through the tyre is why they have the worst tyre wear. That may/may not be true, but its such skin deep fluff, its exactly what I expect from Sky, its just, boring to me.

With the tech and ease and access they have, they should be showing us the brake duct and seeing how its changed. Maybe with 30 seconds of analysis it would be shown that Red bull for 3 years have been increasing cooling, and Merc have been decreasing it, or vice versa, or anything, pictures of random parts with no indication or even discussion if they are improvements or worse or how they work is really boring. He constantly points stuff out, but its all meaningless.

Say anything remotely negative about Ted again and I will hunt you down !

:D

It was pretty funny tho. Esp "oh is that tea" lol

I like his ice cream comments the best. His eyes light up like a kid when a Malaysian ice cream lady walks past :D

What antics?

Heavy rain forecast for 2pm tomorrow, according to the bbc weather site.

Looking like it's going to be dry but it says a 41% chance of rain between 11am and 2pm.

Although bbc site is sure of heavy rain until 5pm.. hmm.
