Canadian Grand Prix 2014, Montréal - Race 7/19

Is it just me, or does the DRS detection point seem like it is miles away from the activation point?

Yes, but it has proved a good location in previous races. Alonso and Hamilton diced over it a couple of years ago, lifting off to try and get the other to go through it first and lose the advantage on the main straight.

I love Canada. I'm hoping it is my next overseas F1 race.

I don't understand why the DRS detection and activation aren't one and the same? The systems can tell instantly if the gap is less than 1 second, why does the detection point need to be so far away?

I think everyone has Canada high up their "to visit" list. Ill be there in 2016, can't wait!

Do they get an advanced warning? Ans if they do, they're F1 drivers, do they really need 10 seconds to react to a light or a beep? :p

Having the detection point there in Canada actually deters people from attempting an overtake into the hairpin, which is a shame.

Completely missed this; what is the steering wheel device?

This gizmo ^ ... After quite a bit of CFD and Wind Tunnel analysis Tim Goss and co have decided to scrap the idea and remove it from the car, they're working on an "automatic rail" development programme where the car can make observations of the racing line and alter it's turning angles to suit.

Ron Dennis believes it will improve performance by 0.258 seconds.

rb have impressed me more than anyother team from where they were in Jerez to now. Wouldn't mind seeing DR win a race. All it needs is a bit of bad luck / rain etc. for Mercedes and he should do it.

I think DR would like to win fair and square and not hope for bad weather ect.
Can't wait to see what levels of fuel Renault use now they have full power.

But I still don't think it will make the cars 3 seconds faster which they will need.

bad weather affects all the cars, it's not a handicap.

this is probably my favourite track of the year, always an exciting race... except last year, that was dull!
lets hope hamilton grows some! and starts to fight back at rosberg so we can see some toe to toe racing between them as i think there is still a massive gap between them and the other cars despite DR catching lewis up last time around. i think that was a mixture of lewis trying too hard to catch rosberg and ruining his tyres when he didnt need to push.
