Canadian Grand Prix 2014, Montréal - Race 7/19

HAHA! id love it if he took his helmet off and it was covered in purple eye shadow and glittery eyelashes! that would be suppperrrrrrrr

i hope so, id like to see what the merc is actually capable of this year... i think theyre doing just enough to pull away from the rest of the pack, but keep some cards close to their chest

I'm not sure of the aero packages for Canada, but could we see the highest top speeds of the year so far here? Clearly Monza will beat them all but this must be a close second.

When do people think that teams will play their 'wild card' and adjust the gear ratios? Or can they chop and change between the two settings all season? I'm not sure.

They can only change them once. There is no wild card. Its just a rule addition to stop a team being stuck with bad ratios if they made a mistake.

I don't think anyone has changed ratios yet. The only people I expect who will are Williams as they have the shortest by far and will struggle at Monza.

Changes at Montreal

Ahead of this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix the FIA has revealed a number of changes to the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve.

Asphalt has replaced the gravel around the outside of Turns 10 and 13, while the barrier on the outside of Turn 13 (right of the pit entry), has been moved further back and a new debris fence has been installed.

New guardrail posts have been added in order to ensure that no spacing is greater than two metres, while the speed bumps used in 2013 at the exit of Turn 9 and the final chicane will be in place again this year.

There will be two DRS zones this weekend with both sharing a single detection point, located 110m after Turn 9. The first activation point is 55m before Turn 12, the second 70m after Turn 14.

Not sure I see the benefit of two DRS zones with a single activation point. If you pass in the first then you shouldn't get the benefit again down the second straight.

While obviously two detection zones does allow yo-yo overtakes between DRS zones, it seems a better system to me..

I take that to mean the barrier straight ahead of the chicane (that separates the pit entry from the track) rather than moving the Wall of Champions back.

Should say Turn 14 if it was the wall imo.
