Canadian Grand Prix 2014, Montréal - Race 7/19

See those replays of that chicane cut, his tires unlocked before the corner, he turned in then turned away from it again. It's not like he locked up and was off the track before he could turn, he was turning almost on the right line, just slow and it wouldn't have been a pretty corner. That is seriously dodgy, that isn't mistake and missed the corner for me, it's made a mistake and DECIDED to cut the corner because it would be faster at that point. He turned into the corner then away after his tires unlocked.

The fact he floored it off the corner and set the fast lap by quite some margin is unforgivable in my opinion. Cant believe he wasn't given a penalty. Hamilton lost all the hard work of getting into his drs as he found himself 1.5-2 seconds down again

What a great race!

Really happy Ric took first, what a guy, I was up out my seat cheering his pass.
Shame Rosberg finished so high.
Shame Lewis didn't finish.
Massa, just not good enough, but glad he took Perez out. That view from vettels car when massa slid past, wincey bum moment.
Loldanado AGAIN.
Driver of the day? Button ;)

I'm not a fan of the idea that you gain an advantage, but once you see you miss the corner in that situation I can understand(not condone it) though. But it's actually that to me, it looks like the tires unlock, he turns in, then chooses to turn away from the corner and take the faster route. I think he could have made a very slow chicane, knew that and chose the faster option which I think deserves a big penalty. If you miss the corner completely, IE if he'd locked up and was past the corner when he unlocked I can understand putting the pedal down.

They really should have strips across there like they have at Monaco so you have to weave between them if you use the run off there to make sure cars slow down and lose out.

Probably knew Hamilton would get him into the first corner if he actually went through with taking the chicane slowly so bolted it through and cut the corner.

This is only a valid criticizm if the other guy lost points because of it.

So Hamilton may have retired from 1st instead of 2nd/3rd wow what a difference

Not sure why people wanted Massa to take vettel out. Not a fan of vettel, but i don't want to see him injured either! Ricciardo is a decent bloke and a great driver - better than i expected.

So no penalties should be given out during a race and all handed out at the end, but only if the driver affected didn't retire?

Lewis retiring has no bearing on if cutting a chicane gives you an advantage.
